RISE AGAINST HUNGER
Haygood Gym
10:00-11:30 AM and
11:45AM -1:15 PM
Come join the Haygood team as we assemble thousands of meals for those in the US and around the world who suffer from food insecurity. We will hold a brief worship experience in the gym which will be in place of our usual Sanctuary worship. This is a great event to invite family and friends to attend, and it is child friendly. Due to COVID, we will be working in 2 shifts: 10:00-11:30 AM and 11:45AM -1:15 PM. Tables will be far enough apart to insure social distancing. Masks are mandatory.
Nursery care will be available throughout the morning. And there will be kid-friendly missional task (including coloring pictures and writing notes to include in the food boxes) for our younger children during the event. To contribute and/or volunteer, please click here.

*NEW* The Jesse Tree Project
|
Childrens' Advent Drama
Casting Call - October 2, 4-5PM
Is your child interested in playing a part in our Advent Drama titled "The Jesse Tree Project"? There’s a place for them. Join us on Sunday, October 2nd from 4-5pm in the Fellowship Hall for a casting call. Speaking roles are for children ages 2nd-6th grades. Our two childrens' choirs will be incorporated into our production. Rehearsals for spoken parts will be on Sundays at 4pm leading up to the production. Children choir rehearsals remain on Wednesdays.
Your child is invited to learn about Jesus’ family and how they shaped his life and God’s story of redemption. To help make this story accessible to children, we’ve put it in a modern context.
Jesus comes home from school and Mary and Joseph discover he has a family tree project that is due the next day. Mary is anxious about Jesus getting the project done and asks Joseph to help Jesus with his project. Joseph (the carpenter) helps Jesus in his woodworking shop where they will create a tree to complete his project. While they are working on the project, Joseph and Mary will tell Jesus of the people in his ancestry that have made him who he is.
Children play the parts of Mary, Joseph, Jesus and characters from Jesus’ ancestry. This will be a lighthearted and faithful way for children to learn the story of our savior. If your child is interested in a part, please join us for a casting session on October 2nd. All children will receive a part in the play.
This play will be performed in worship on December 4th at 11am. Our director is Rev. Taylor Pafford (who grew up at Haygood). She is an ordained deacon in the United Methodist Church. Sign up here.

The Importance of Small Groups
|
If you have been in other Small Groups, you know how important they can be. Small Groups are a great place to learn and grow plus these groups are an excellent vehicle for building and strengthening relationships with others. Please join us as we explore the book titled Come Back.
Come Back: Returning To the Life You Were Made For
Thursdays, 6:30-7:30PM, the Parlor
We all experience setbacks. Loss, failure, and even tragedy are part of life. But when these start to define us, it’s time to regroup. In Come Back: Returning to the Life You Were Made For, Roger Ross discusses the essentials for rising up and out of bad circumstances. This engaging book tells turnaround stories from sports, history, and everyday life, tracing Jesus’s parable of the prodigal son to reveal five crucial stages for every comeback. Each stage is paired with an ancient spiritual practice designed to help everyday people turn some part of their life around. If you're interested in participating, please contact Danny Morris at rdanmorris@gmail.com or 404-245-2048

Confirmation Class
October 23 - March 26
Confirmation is when our youth (8th graders) confirm their intention to live the vows of the baptismal and membership covenant, and become a professing member of our congregation and The United Methodist Church. The class is a safe opportunity for kids to ask the questions they have about their relationship with God and the topics we discuss throughout the year. Confirmation spans October thru March, and we celebrate Confirmation Sunday in April. The class cost is $200. Please sign up here to enroll your 8th grader in our Confirmation class.
If you have a high school student (grades 9-12) who hasn’t gone through confirmation and would like to, please reach out to Erich Wills, Youth Minister, at erich@haygoodumc.org
