Update from the Board of Trustees

For the last few years, the Board and other church committees have been exploring options for replacing the existing Grizzard House—the house on the western side of our campus—with a new building, so that we might fully realize the potential of our entire campus. We are very excited about this project, and additional information will be shared in the coming weeks. So far, we have procured schematic designs for a new building, which will sit in roughly the same footprint and with the same approximate height as the existing house, but will face the church, the playground and the parking lot. We aim to maintain the adjacent wooded area while constructing a facility that will be more useful for the church and congregation.

Before we can move further with plans for new construction, Haygood must apply for a Special Use Permit (SUP), since we are in a residential area. This application process has a tight timeframe, requires us to notify our neighbors and then work with the neighborhood association and the NPU before going further to obtain the SUP. We have already started this part of the process, but if you would like to help, or if you have any questions about this work, please reach out to one of us directly.

Before proceeding with the project, formal approval and appointment of a building committee would be required at Charge Conference scheduled for late October. More detailed information will be shared soon, including photos and initial plans. Thank you for your patience and your prayers that we can continue to use all Haygood’s buildings and property to enhance our ministries and programs.

Help Us Feed Our Youth Group

Every Sunday night, we provide dinner for our youth who come together for small group and fellowship.

We’re inviting the entire Haygood community—not just youth group families—to help provide these meals! This is a wonderful way to support our students and show them how much our church family cares for them.

You can use the link to sign up to provide a meal, or you can make a donation to the youth to help cover the cost of a meal.

We generally plan for 25–30 students, and we ask that all food be delivered no later than 4:45 p.m. on Sunday nights.

Thank you for helping us nourish our students, build community, and make Sunday nights special for our youth!

Please click here to sign up. Thank You!

Connect Through Prayers

Please remember to pray for all of those on the Haygood Prayer List.

Bulletin/ Weekly Email - Join Haygood’s Greeting Team

One of the best things about our church is that it doesn’t feel like a Sunday obligation, it feels like family, and that’s exactly why our Greeting Team matters so much! We are looking to grow our team of volunteers and update contact info as we head in to a busy fall season.

Each Sunday, we need at least 3 greeters from 10:30–11:05 AM. This is a wonderful way to catch up with friends you don’t see every day or welcome someone new to Haygood and it takes just 35 minutes of your Sunday.

Here’s how you can help today:

               1.          Let us know if you’re interested and how we can get in touch by filling out the Greeter Interest Form: https://forms.gle/4Pviv3zobcqV79oq6

               2.          Consider serving as a Monthly Captain, no experience needed, just a warm smile and a group text

               3.          Not sure yet? Let us know you’re interested and we’ll answer any questions!

Testify! You have a story.

Everyone has a testimony, but we might be nervous about sharing it or not know where to begin. Each of us has a story that is enfolded within God’s story of redemption. Pastor Will will help guide you to narrate your spiritual journey through stories in the Bible. Over these five weeks, you will receive training and guidance on how to give an account of what you have witnessed God do in your life and how that matters for who you are becoming as a follower of Jesus. At the conclusion of the course, participants will share their testimonies with the group and will be invited to share them in worship or in another church setting.

Session 3: Transformation through faith.

Sessions 4 & 5: Sharing Our Testimonies.

“This is the disciple who is testifying to these things and has written them, and we know that his testimony is true” (John 21:24).

Date: Sundays, September 13th, 20th, 27th

Time: 5pm-6:30pm

Location: Living Room

Register here.
