• A Note from the Board - See below

  • Pints With The Pastor in person on August 12th!

  • The church will meet in-person in August depending on Rev. Martha's mobility! She has a walking boot on now and is doing physical therapy!

  • Meditation is on Tuesday, August 10th at 7 pm.

  • We need volunteers to cut grass & water. See below.
Those of you who have been observing Holy Covenant’s financial status over the last year or so are aware that income has fallen dramatically. We did receive a generous bequest last summer, but that was expended primarily on the needed repairs to the Fellowship Hall after the flood in May of 2020 and to pay the ongoing expenses not covered by donations. Our two loans from the Small Business Administration (PPP) together partially covered six months of salary and expenses.

In order to be fiscally responsible, as is our duty as Board members, in July the decision was very reluctantly made to reduce Rev. Martha’s hours to 32 per week through December in order to reduce her salary. This change does not alter the budget’s bottom line, as the difference will be applied to other expenses. The decision will be reviewed this fall prior to Rev. Martha’s contract renewal in December.

Please do not hesitate to contact any Board member with questions or concerns.

Holy Covenant has started to use an online software program called SignUp Genius to create volunteer opportunities and for future worship.

With this online software, you will be able to sign-up to help with a variety of different events being held at the church. By signing up you will receive reminders for what you have signed up to help with and can keep track of other volunteer opportunities that may arise.

When you see a volunteer opportunity for a sign-up like grass cutting, garage sale, etc. there will be a link that will take you to the sign-up sheet. Please fill it out as needed.

Our partner at Share Food, Share Love uses this online software with great success! Let's make it successful for our church too by everyone clicking on the provided link and sign up to help out Holy Covenant as needed.

If you have any questions, please contact Rev. Martha or Barbara Adams Latsaras at socialmedia@holycovenantmcc.org.

Naper Pride!
Holy Covenant has the opportunity to participate in Naper Pride! We haven’t been able to participate in a Pride celebration for two years, but here’s our chance!
September 11 and 12, 2021, Naper Pride will offer entertainment, vendors, and information booths. This is a great opportunity to reach out into the community and (re)connect with people who are seeking an affirming church.
However, it is not free. The cost for a booth is $300 (for both days), and we would provide our own table, chairs and tent. In addition, we would need at least three to four people willing to staff the table for each day, transportation for the tent, tables, chairs, and giveaway materials.
How can you help?
  • Donate part or all of the $300 fee, and $50 for 8'ft table
  • Volunteer to staff the table for part or all of a day—either the 11th
  • or the 12th.
  • Help with transporting the equipment and materials to or from the venue each day
  • Help with choosing and/or creating the giveaway items
Any of these would bring us closer to our goal of participating in a suburban Pride event for the first time in two years!
Please prayerfully consider what you can do to help Holy Covenant reach out to our community. You can sign up here to volunteer.

If sufficient funds are not donated to cover the fee, we will postpone attendance at Naper Pride as the cost is not in our current budget, and consider it for next year. If that occurs, donations will be refunded to the giver

You can attend yourself by clicking on either link below to see the Saturday and Sunday lineups and to order tickets to attend. There is a cost to attend if we do not have a booth there.

Meditation has returned! The next meditation is on Tuesday, August 10th at
7 pm at the church. Mary Ann will be leading the meditation in Fellowship Hall. This event is free and open to all women.

Please be prompt at 7 pm
so there are no distractions.

We will be following CDC/Illinois guidelines.

  • Please bring your mask even if you are vaccinated.
  • If you are not feeling well, please stay home.
  • We ask that you use hand sanitizer as you enter the building
  • You must be vaccinated or have a negative COVID test.

Some more information about meditation:

  • An RSVP is now required via call-in, text, or email verification to guarantee coverage for any handouts or other materials.

  • Meditation gatherings are gratuitously offered, a basket will be present for any gracious “Love Offerings” will be provided to cover any costs for the group.

  • The group is open to Women Only and bringing a friend, or two is always welcomed. Because this is a group format in the support of our community, it is healing for each individual to make a personal commitment to participate in exchanges accordingly to one's ability to share, grow and heal as well as the benefit to the group as a whole.

  • Meditation begins promptly after 7 P.M., doors will be locked at 7:01 to prevent interruptions, maintaining group safety, and upholding everyone’s privacy, however, doors will be opened for “socializing” 15-45 minutes or more prior to 7 P.M. to accommodate community social time, as long as RSVP’s are made to accommodate the needs of the group.

  • Depending on the size of the group, the facilitator's presentation, and the material of the evening, session length averages 90 - 120 minutes,
  • 8:30 - 9:00 P.M., but can, in few and rare cases, extend up to 10 P.M.

  • Personal/Private meditation sessions are available for individuals or small groups, as well as other Holistic Healing. Discussion of facilitators' scheduling and fees available upon request.

If you have any questions, please email Mary Ann Latsaras at only1amar@yahoo.com.
It is now summer and our grass is growing as is our flowers and vegetable garden. We need some volunteers that would be willing to come and cut the grass and water the front and back of the church and the rose garden! You can volunteer to do it once, twice, or whenever you want. If you feel you can help, please let Mary Ann know by dropping her an email at only1amar@yahoo.com or you can sign-up on our new volunteer portal called Sign-up Genius. Click SignUp Genius to Volunteer!

We started with a sign-up date of Saturday, but you can come and cut the grass any day of the week that is convenient for you.

We have a lawnmower and all the lawn equipment you will need!
