Remembering Your Baptism
Most of us probably don't remember our baptism as we were just infants at the time. There are quite a few that did make a decision to be baptized as young people. And then there are all the forms baptism can take: immersion, pouring or sprinkling.
The Gospel story before us this coming Sunday tells the story of Jesus' baptism. He was just at the beginning of his ministry and went to the Jordan River to be baptized by his cousin John. Mark tells us that "the heavens were torn apart and the Spirit descending like a dove on him."
The reading from Acts has Paul in Ephesus asking whether the disciples there had received the Holy Spirit. They didn't know what that was and indicated that they had been baptized into John's baptism. 'Not good enough,' says Paul and immediately baptizes them in Jesus' name.
Something is supposed to be different about people who are baptized in Jesus' name. Life is supposed to be different.
Join us on Sunday for some great music and maybe to have your life changed, too!
Peace and Blessings,
Pastor Candace
