Introducing ...
Arjun
Member since 2018
“Job's not done.”
| | | |
It’s no wonder Kobe Bryant’s words resonate with Arjun. Entering his senior year studying computer science at the U, Arjun approaches his workouts with the same focus he brings to his studies. And while that focus brought him to the fitness floor nearly every day this summer, the workouts themselves were only part of the draw. After eight years as a member, Arjun shares that he values the Liberty community just as much: friends who share his goals, keep him motivated, and make the hard work more enjoyable.
Arjun’s favorite Liberty days are the unplanned ones when he and his crew stay for hours. They lift, play basketball, stop at Café Liberty, and finish with the cold plunge, hot tub, and sauna. “Those days are my favorite,” he claims, “because we get to do pretty much everything Liberty has to offer while just hanging out together.”
For Arjun, Liberty never gets old. Having played basketball for as long as he can remember, he enjoys taking the court with people he has known for years while continuing to welcome new players into the mix. Weight training offers a different appeal, adding variety to his workouts while reinforcing the focus and discipline he carries beyond the gym.
This fall, Arjun looks forward to Detroit Lions and Michigan football game days. His ideal day is simple: basketball, pool time, another workout, the sauna, a good dinner, and time with friends. For Arjun, "the job" means showing up, staying focused, and drawing motivation from the Ann Arbor communities he calls home.

Healthy Aging Month:
The Power of Healthy Fats
When we hear the word “fat,” we may not immediately think of good health. But healthy fats play an important role in supporting the body as we age. Omega-3, omega-6, and omega-9 fatty acids each offer different benefits and can be found in many familiar foods.
Omega-3 fatty acids are essential polyunsaturated fats, meaning the body cannot produce them on its own. They support the heart, brain, eyes, joints, and metabolism. Wild salmon, trout, sardines, walnuts, soybeans, chia seeds, and flaxseeds are all good sources.
Omega-6 fatty acids are also polyunsaturated fats. The body needs them for energy, cell growth, hormone production, and healthy immune function. They are found in soybean, corn, sunflower, and safflower oils, as well as avocados and eggs.
Omega-9 fatty acids are monounsaturated fats that the body can produce. They support the heart, skin, immune system, and blood sugar control. Sources include olive and canola oils, avocados, sunflower and sesame seeds, cashews, walnuts, peanuts, and almonds.
One simple way to enjoy more healthy fats is to add walnuts or chia seeds to oatmeal, choose fish for a meal, snack on a small handful of nuts, or use olive oil in place of butter. Small choices like these can help nourish the body and support healthy aging!

Welcome back! The 2026-2027 indoor season is now in full swing, and I know many of you are looking forward to returning to your favorite classes.
