What's New at MMF

Items for Distraction Bags are Needed

On December 3rd, the Michael Magro Foundation will be joining a local group to pack 200 Distraction Bags for children undergoing treatment, filled with small games, coloring books, art supplies, and other fun activities to brighten their hospital stay.

We’re collecting new, small items such as (refer to photo for ideas):

  • Coloring and activity books
  • Crayons, Play-Doh, paint sets
  • Card games (UNO, Go Fish, etc.)
  • Small toys or fidget items

If you’d like to contribute, please mail or drop off donations to Terrie before Thanksgiving so we can include them in this special community effort - 12 Julian St., Hicksville, NY 11801

Together, we can bring comfort, smiles, and a little joy to kids who need it most this holiday season.

Thank You, Townwide Fund of Huntington, for the Grant

The Michael Magro Foundation is deeply grateful to the Townwide Fund of Huntington, Inc. for their generous $2,500 grant in support of our Life Essentials Program.

This meaningful contribution will directly support families in navigating the financial and emotional strain of a child’s medical crisis. Through the Life Essentials Program, we assist with everyday needs, such as groceries, utilities, transportation, and other household expenses, so parents can focus on what truly matters: caring for their child.

Support from community partners, such as the Townwide Fund, enables us to continue our mission of providing comfort, stability, and hope when families need it most. Together, we are truly making a difference, one family at a time.

Magro Mayham Raised Over $4,500!

On Sunday, October 19th, lacrosse returned to Walker Park with a 4-team round robin competing to raise money for the Michael Magro Foundation. The event dubbed Magro Mayhem, hosted local town teams, Hicksville, Locust Valley, and Herricks/Bellmore-Merrick, along with friends from New Jersey, the Angry Donkeys. Each team played three games - one game against each team. The weather was beautiful, the competition was lively, and the spirit of giving was in the air. Raffle baskets lined the entrance to the field, generating much buzz. Each team’s tailgate was full of snacks, music, and camaraderie. All participants received a t-shirt to save the memory and spread awareness of MMF and its mission supporting families of children with cancer and other chronic illnesses.

A huge thank you to all of our participating teams, volunteers, and sponsors - VMI Sports, Mid-Island Training, Zukowski Law, Shore2Shore Lacrosse, Montana Agency, and MDP Lacrosse.

Your generosity helped raise $4,542.00 for the Michael Magro Foundation.

Lacrosse unites us, and at Magro Mayhem, the extra unifying presence was #33 on his home turf!
