COVID-19 Response Program
Donate today to Michael Magro Foundation’s special COVID-19 Response Campaign. Make a difference NOW for Long Island families in crisis.

Having a child battling cancer is difficult under the best of circumstances. When a child is diagnosed, one parent usually resigns from work to be the
primary caregiver. Losing one income is frightening for those who were just getting by on two. Deciding which bills to pay each month is all-too-common.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, these families are in crisis. But you can help!

Your gift will help MMF support these families!
A gift of:
  • $50 will feed a family of 4 dinner following a chemo treatment.
  • $100 will provide transportation to/from treatment PLUS dinner that evening.
  • $250 will provide one prepared meal for a family PLUS a gift card for a groceries delivery to feed them for the next week.
  • $500 will pay the utility bills for a struggling family for one month.

The outside world is in great flux, but these children are still very sick. Their families need our help now, more than ever.
Blessing Bags Donated to Healthcare Heroes
Because of all your generous donations, we sent over 175 Blessing Bags to the Healthcare Workers at NYU Winthrop Hospital and other local Long Island hospitals.

These bags include items such as headbands with buttons to hold their face masks, Purell, hand lotion, healthy snacks, and much more!

Thank you, Angela Lamia, from Pampered Chef for starting this fundraiser and thank you to everyone who donated.

We want to let our heroes know how much we appreciate their selfless work they are doing each and every day. THANK YOU!
Phone Charger Donation
T aj Masson, Operations Manager of Verizon Wireless on Jericho Turnpike in Mineola, donated 24 cell phone chargers for the patients at NYU Winthrop Hospital.

Now these patients can stay in contact with their families during this time where no visitors are allowed due to the pandemic.

On behalf half of all of us at MMF and the patients, we THANK YOU Taj for your generosity.
Donation to Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida
Last month, Joe De Sena, Managing Director of Siena Wealth Advisory Group, raised $8,500 at the Miami Half Marathon. With those funds, the Michael Magro Foundation will be making a donation to Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida, so they can purchase an Advanced IV Training Arm and Chester Chest. These are great tools for teaching patients about upcoming procedures, competency testing, skills assessment, fluid infusion, blood
withdrawal and dressing securement techniques which will help keep us efficient and treating our cancer patients safely.

The clinical staff at GCHSWF will be sharing additional vitally needed equipment that the foundation will purchase.
Update on Feeding Families; Feeding Souls Program
Over the past several weeks, we have been working tirelessly and in close partnership with our partner hospitals to provide added assistance wherever needed. An example is our work with NYC Winthrop Cancer Center for Kids, where we have been purchasing meals for families made by Piccola Bussola of Mineola , a longtime staple in the community.
Having a child very sick in the hospital is difficult under the best of circumstances. With the current COVID-19 pandemic, families in the hospital are living with extraordinary stress. Ensuring they have a healthy, delicious meal – together – eases their burden each evening while helping support a local restaurant. To date we have provided over 150 meals to families. This program will continue as the need continues.

With the support of Investors Bank, a good friend to MMF, and some networking partners, the staff at the testing center at NYU Winthrop Hospital also received these delicious dinners for the past two weeks.
An Evening of Tasting & Giving -- CANCELLED --
As you may know, our Evening of Tasting and Giving Event, held at the beginning of October, is the single largest fundraising event for MMF each year. This event provides much of the funds we need to provide our vital services. It is, for this reason, we are saddened to announce that for 2020, we will be cancelling our event.

Our event is a success, in part, because of the generosity of the chefs and restaurants who treat our guests to some of the finest
foods on Long Island. Because of the current climate, in which the restaurant industry is so badly impacted, we simply cannot ask them to give even more when many face such an uncertain future.

We plan to resume this event in 2021, when, hopefully, our lives and the economy will have returned to what we once knew. Read More
