A Message From Your President
Dear NESHS Colleagues,

I hope this newsletter finds you all in good spirits.  The warm weather and sunshine certainly helps!

It was wonderful to see so many of you at our record-setting Spring Conference, "Successful Collaboration and Partnerships Across the Care Continuum."  Nearly 130 attendees were on hand to hear from our keynote speaker Mary Modahl from American Well talk about "The Power of Telehealth."  The program also included presentations by Rachel Rowe of Granite Health, Mary Moscato from Hebrew Senior Life, Steve Merz of Yale New Haven Psychiatric Hospital, and NESHS' own Norma Stracener and Claudio Capone.

In addition to all of the great speakers, the feedback we received once again confirmed that you find tremendous value in the networking opportunities.  As a reminder, you can access all of the day's materials by visiting the NESHS Virtual Institute, http://www.neshs.org/virtual_institute_li.asp.

As you may remember in my last newsletter, I highlighted our work to refresh our strategic plan. With the help of four students from Boston University's MPH program, we identified three high-level goals to focus on over the next two years:
1. Enhanced engagement of new and existing members
2. Membership growth
3. Increased collaboration with other professional organizations

The Board will work with the membership to implement a series of tactics to achieve these goals.  All of this work is designed to ensure you obtain the maximum value from your NESHS membership.  I'll provide a detailed update at our annual meeting during the fall conference.

Finally, I hope to see you at our July 22nd Deep Dive session at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. We will learn about Wentworth-Douglass' population health journey. Our panelists will share the tools, techniques and reports they have developed over the past two years to support their volume-to-value transition. Please register at http://www.neshs.org/registration_form.asp.

As always, I would love to hear from you. Please e-mail me at sfahmy@mgh.harvard.edu or call me at (617) 643-8496.

Best,

Susan Fahmy

Population Health Management: A Community Hospital's Journey

Friday, July 22, 2016 | 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM

Wentworth-Douglass Hospital
Garrison Auditorium
789 Central Street | Dover, NH

The national healthcare environment continues to shift from illness care to wellness and prevention as part of a large movement toward population health management (PHM). Although the speed of this movement varies by market, many experts believe the volume-to-value transition is here to stay.

Given this imperative, we invite you to listen and participate in a discussion on one community hospital's PHM journey. Learn how they created a PHM infrastructure through collaboration with key leaders in the clinical, financial and operations disciplines. Our panelists will also share tools, techniques and reports developed over the last 1-2 years on this evolving journey.
