New Announcements

Quail Crossing Blvd Stoplight at Railroad Tracks

The westbound traffic signal at the railroad tracks is intended to stop traffic at the tracks. The traffic signal at the intersection stays green longer than the signal at the crossing, allowing cars that have already crossed the tracks to get through the intersection. This is to ensure that no vehicles - not even a slow-moving truck or school bus - can be trapped on the railroad tracks by a car in front of them.

The signal at the railroad tracks is a regular traffic signal, and driving through it to make a right turn at the intersection may result in a citation. Sahuarita Police Department has been enforcing this traffic signal.

The light at the intersection is to instruct drivers when it is safe - or not - to enter the intersection.

A bike lane would have been a nice enhancement, however, the town does not own the property needed to expand the right-of-way for a bike lane. In accordance with Arizona statute, bicycles are vehicles and should follow the rules of the road. Drivers are reminded to share the road with bicyclists.

For questions or concerns, please contact Paul Burton, Traffic Signal Operations Mgr.

WEEDS, WEEDS, WEEDS!

It’s that time of year! With the spring's rains, weeds can start to take over our landscape. Now is the time to use post-emergent to kill the existing weeds. ALC also strongly suggests you should have pre-emergent herbicide to retard germination in weeds starting in January, prior to the winter rains. Keep sidewalks clear, and free from overhanging into neighbor and common areas.

The governing documents that the homeowner is responsible for keeping their lots free from weeds and trash. Trimmed so that shrubs or plants do not interfere with utility boxes, standards, or fire hydrants.

Please reach out to the ALC at 520-393-5803, should you have any questions. We are happy to help!

The Quickest Route is (Almost) a Straight Line

With lots of houses currently being constructed in Units 29B and 25BC, there is more traffic in interior residential neighborhoods than expected. To access either of these units, a quicker and more direct route is Three Feat

hers to Wrightson View Dr. Using either Laguna Oaks Dr or Oak Hill Ln still requires a left-hand turn on Three Feathers to get to either unit. Depending on where you live in proximity to Robson Ranch Blvd, that might be an option as well. Just a reminder that all interior residential roads are posted at 25 MPH. Continue to drive safely!

Snakes Alive!

What to do When You Encounter a Snake?

With the unseasonably warm temperatures this time of year, we see many residents ready to soak up some sun. We also need to be aware that snakes also enjoy sunbathing. Since Quail Creek is surrounded by natural desert, there may be an occasional time when any one of us may encounter a snake.

What do you do if you see a snake?

Call 9-1-1 if it's an emergency such as a snake bite. If you are in a safe location, such as inside your home or car, you can call the Fire Corps at 520-629-9200, for assistance. Please do not call the Quail Creek gatehouse or patrol drivers. The POA staff is not trained to remove snakes. Your safety is important to all of us.

Changes to the Vacation Watch Program

As announced at the January Coffee with the GM, the Board of Directors has authorized changes to the Vacation Watch Program.

An audit of the Vacation Watch program revealed that the majority of homeowners using the program already have a friend/neighbor or 3rd party service watching their home during their absence. A much smaller number of homeowners rely solely on the POA for Vacation Watch. The cost to maintain this complimentary service is passed along to all homeowners through their POA dues whether they use the Vacation Watch program or not. With over 600+ homes signed up annually, additional patrol staff would have to be hired to keep up with the demand. The cost of the increased patrol payroll would need to be passed on to all homeowners.

As a result, the POA will continue to offer Vacation Watch services with the following guidelines:

The homeowner must be gone a minimum of seven (7) days to no more than thirty (30) days at a time. The POA will no longer provide vacation watch services for homeowners gone longer than one month.

Effective immediately, the POA will provide the following three steps as a part of the visit and call the point of contact on the Vacation Watch form for any of the following:

  1. Check front door to make sure it is locked
  2. Visually look to make sure the front windows are closed, windows are not broken
  3. Visually look to make sure the front yard does not have an irrigation leak

Patrol will no longer enter the backyard as part of the Vacation Watch. The Vacation Watch is street facing inspection of the property only.
