Moments that Mattered...

  • Freshly Baked with Love: Our wonderful staff member Sue whipped up delicious blueberry scones for our hospice family.
  • Raising our Mug to Revel Owner Anne: We gratefully acknowledged the ongoing donation of revel's coffee from owner Anne Campion. Anne was an early supporter of our hospice home, generously committing to donating her direct trade coffee before our doors even opened.
  • Coldest Night of the Year: Rotary Hospice is proud to participate in this year's Coldest Night of the Year in support of Shelterlink Youth Services! Join or support our team here.
  • Spread the Love: We are excited to announce our February monthly giving challenge with our friends at Quadro Communications Cooperative Inc. Read more below about how you can double your impact this February!
  • Double-Duty Volunteers: Shoutout to our maintenance volunteers for doing double duty - diligently keeping our sidewalks and walkways clear of snow (which was no small feat this month!) and entertaining our residents with beautiful music.
  • Crokinole Anyone? Our heartfelt thanks to the organizers of the World Crokinole Championship in Tavistock for their generous donation of a beautiful wooden Crokinole Board which will be enjoyed by many!
  • A Splash of Spring: Beautiful and vibrant flowers adorn the tables in our dining room, bringing a splash of spring indoors as the snow continued to fall.
  • Puzzle Success: While there are always puzzles on the go here, a completed goldfinch puzzle was left out to be admired as we dream of spring.
  • A Message of Love: A loved one of a resident left a heartwarming message on our blackboard in the family and children's room that reads "This place is a blessing. Thank you!"
  • Beautiful Sunsets: Sunshine began to return this past week, creating beautiful sunsets over our hospice home.
  • Staff & Volunteers Bring Silly Smiles: A few of our volunteers and staff members always have a silly joke in their back pocket, bringing smiles and groans to all who will listen. Your "Groaner" for this month is: What kind of magazines do cows read? Cattle-logues!

Hospice Hearts Monthly Giving Challenge

With Valentine’s Day approaching, we are reminded that Rotary Hospice is filled with love 12 months of the year. It’s found in the quiet moments of support, the shared laughter, and the small, thoughtful touches that make hospice feel like home.

This February, as we celebrate love in all its forms, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our Hospice Hearts Monthly Giving Challenge, supported by our friends at Quadro Communications Co-operative Inc.

With each new or increased monthly gift, Quadro will match up to $25,000 ensuring your gift of love will go even further! Monthly donors are an integral way for Rotary Hospice to meet its annual fundraising goal of $1,000,000+.

Our heartfelt thanks to hospice volunteer and monthly donor Susan who has generously increased her monthly gift to help us kick off this challenge!

If you're an existing monthly donor and wish to increase your gift, or have questions about this challenge, please reach out to Lucie Stuart, Director, Fund Development & Stewardship at lucie@rotaryhospice.ca or 519-508-4900 ext. 720.

This February, join us and help ensure that love continues to show up for those who will call Rotary Hospice home.

Grief is like a Jigsaw Puzzle...

Grief is not a smorgasbord where you go down the line picking a little of this and a

little of that.

Grief is like a jigsaw puzzle. Some people get all the edge pieces together first and work from the outside in.

Others dump everything out on the table at once and jump right into the middle.

Some never open the box at all. They just look at the picture on the outside and wonder why what’s inside the box doesn’t match or make sense.

You meet a lot of people when you start a jigsaw puzzle. Some are full of advice or they may try to make the puzzle look the way it ought to be instead of the way it is.

But, once in awhile, you meet someone who shares their own finished puzzle and helps you to make some sense of yours.

Then you find it is not as hard as before. Some of the pieces fit together more easily, and you sigh with relief…and remember.
