Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
August 4/5, 2018

In Sunday's Gospel we hear Jesus proclaiming that he is "the bread of life." He then offers an invitation to come to Him. For us, the invitation is to live the Eucharistic life in Christ. What does it mean for our parish family to live together in the Eucharist? What does it mean for us to share the Eucharist together, to participate in the "bread of life" together? Does it mean we love each other, support our community of faith, work together? Do we carry each other's burdens? Celebrate our joys? What are the practical implications of being good stewards of our Eucharistic life together?
Annual Missionary Appeal
Global Partners - Running Water
August 4/5 2018

This year's annual missionary appeal will be presented by a former member of St. John's Parish, Sr. Jan Gregorcich SSND. For a number of years, Sr. Jan did missionary work in Guatemala and Honduras. After she returned to the states, her community wanted her to continue the mission of building relationships through collaboration on water, food, health and education projects especially in Guatemala. Global Partners was developed to help bring clean running water into many remote villages in Guatemala. It's hard to believe that today 783 million people still do not have access to clean drinking water. Women in many countries walk an average of 4 miles each day to collect water.

If you wish to donate to Global Partners ministry, please use the Missionary Cooperation Plan envelopes during Masses this weekend (August 4/5). If donating by check please make your check payable to St. John the Evangelist and in the memo line write Mission Appeal.

Pope Francis urges us to be instruments of God's love in our world.
