The Ascension of the Lord
June 1/2, 2019

On this Feast of the Ascension, we celebrate Christ’s triumphant return to the Father after perfectly accomplishing His mission on earth. However, we can also view this Feast as a celebration of the “launch day” of our commissioning as Christ’s disciples.

Today’s Gospel draws our attention to the clear instructions that Jesus gave His disciples (and us) just before ascending to the Father: “Thus it is written that the Christ would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day and that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins, would be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.”

Embracing a stewardship way of life with its emphasis on the use of time, talent, and treasure helps us to live in such a way that our very lives speak as a witness of the Good News of the Gospel. While we take time to reflect and renew our commitments in these three areas annually as a parish family, it is of great benefit to take some time individually throughout the year to take stock of the commitments we have made. We need to look at both our strengths and our need for continued growth in each area.

On this Feast of our “launch day,” take some time to celebrate your victories as Christ’s disciples and renew your commitment to remain faithful to Him and the unique mission He has entrusted to you!
First Saturday Confession

Just a reminder that Saturday, June 1, is the First Saturday of the month. In addition to Reconciliation on Saturday morning after the 8:00 A.M. Mass, Confession will be available at 3:30 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. in the church. Reconciliation is a great way to keep ourselves firmly united with God, as well as an opportunity to receive grace, to turn from sin, and believe ever more deeply in God's generous Mercy.
Golf Outing

Come join us on Sunday, June 2, at Whitnall Golf Course. First tee time is 2:00 p.m. All are welcome, men and women. This is a fun outing, no competition or prizes. We will be playing 9 holes. A light lunch in the church hall will follow. Cost: $20/person walking. Carts are available at extra cost.

To sign up, call Ron Heser at 414-448-7117.
CDs from Augustine Institute

Did you know we have CDs (and other items) located in the narthex? Each week we will highlight one of the available CDs.

Cost is $4 each.
In this captivating presentation, Fr. Shannon Collins discusses the essential character of the Holy Spirit and the role the forgotten Person of the Blessed Trinity has played since the creation of the world. Drawing upon Scripture and tradition, Fr. Collins explains the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit and how the Holy Spirit works in the lives of believers. Listeners are sure to come to a better appreciation for this “sweet guest of our soul” who seeks to bring us closer to Christ and eternal salvation.
