“The right people in the right seats on the bus.”
This is a leadership principle we recite often at Senior Solutions. Whether we’re hiring a new case manager or HR Director, we are committed to getting the people with the right values, the right skills, and the right commitment to serving older Vermonters, on our bus. This is a principle extolled in the book Good To Great by leadership researcher Jim Collins that I have charged each of the leadership team members with reading.
Last year, Senior Solutions was named by Vermont Biz magazine as one of the best places to work in Vermont as a small business. We are committed to making Senior Solutions a great place to work and more importantly, a great place to receive the assistance and resources that older Vermonters need to thrive in their communities. One of the first steps in achieving this is by having the right people in the right seats on our bus. Since January we have hired Renee Woliver as our Communications Director, Donna Waldo as our Front Office Coordinator, Eliza Eagar as our Nutrition and Wellness Director, Phil Hahn as IT Support Specialist, and Fey Kennedy, Scott Belt, Joanne Carr, Tom Wielgus, Leslie Albano, and Saima Cassell as case managers. With each of these new staff we are confident that we are filling the seats on the bus with the right people. This week I interviewed two strong candidates for our Human Resources Director position. I wish I could hire them both as I’m sure they would bring valuable skills and leadership to Senior Solutions.
It is exciting to see Senior Solutions growing as a vital organization throughout the communities we serve. We want Senior Solutions to be a familiar name in all these communities. Our staff are doing the hard work of reaching out to those who would benefit from assistance and serving those already receiving support through programs such as Choices for Care, long-term care. With the local visiting nurse association transitioning out of this program, it is critically important that we fill the empty seats on our case management bus with dedicated staff to serve all these clients.
We need three additional case managers to fill these seats and deliver great service. If you know of someone you think has the right values, skills and commitment to serve older Vermonters, please encourage them to send us their resume. We are looking for those people who will take their seat on the bus and contribute to making Senior Solutions a great place to work and receive service.
