Almost everything will work again if you unplug it, including you.
-Anne Lamott
Well, here we are again at the end of another school year which for parents, grandparents & families everywhere means night after night, week after week of scheduled activities & responsibilities. Every May, our newsletter sings the same song, different verse as we navigate the end of school year activities, graduations, sports season wrap-ups and beginnings, awards ceremonies, etc., etc. I'm sure Nick & I aren't alone in feeling like our calendars, and to-do lists are going to get the best of us! And isn't it crazy? Two years ago we were mourning the loss of so much---yet it certainly gave us that downtime we so desperately need.
And so, like years before I'm here to remind you to take the time to unplug. Schedule some downtime on your calendar, and make it non-negotiable. Maybe it's 24 hours of turning off your phone, or a weekend camping with your family, or maybe that week at the beach can't come fast enough. Our bodies, minds, and souls need a personal day, or ten so don't disregard how important that is for your state of mind. Take the time to relax, unplug yourself not just from the screens, but from a busy schedule and look forward with anticipation to the carefree summer days that will hopefully come with ease.
