Set us free, O God, from the bondage of our sins, and give us the liberty of that abundant life which you have made known to us in your Son our Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. AMEN.

FATHER, WE PRAISE THEE, NOW THE NIGHT IS OVER
MAKING A DIFFERENCE

THE PRAYER OF PEACE
Our Making a Difference story took place at the dinner table this week. Jay and I asked Jason to say a prayer prior to us eating dinner. He got a huge smile on his face and said, "Let me get my Prayer book and pick a prayer.” He returned with his prayer book and shared that he wanted to read the prayer of peace, with a huge smile on his face and such pride. Jay and I were beaming with happiness. What a beautiful dinner it was!!! Thank you Father Andrew, Gena and St. Gregory's for taking the time to teach my boy about the Bible, prayers and Jesus. It is so appreciated.
Wishing you a peaceful day,
Kelli Krause
WHAT IS YOUR
MAKING A DIFFERENCE STORY?

We are looking for members to share their "making a difference" stories! Each week we feature a "making a difference" story to highlight a moment, a member, a ministry that reveals the movement of the Holy Spirit among us and the transforming love of Jesus. We want to hear your "making a difference" moments and stories to share with the congregation. Please contact us at communications@stgregorys.com-- with your stories! We're looking forward to celebrating them throughout this new year. - Andrew +
FROM THE RECTOR

Dear Beloved Members of St. Gregory's,

We had a good, dare I even say, inspiring Annual Meeting last Sunday. If you missed it, the link to the recording is available at the bottom of this letter. Congratulations and blessings to our new Vestry members: Cheryl Fells, Paula Holgerson, Ayanna Reid and Scott Wing!

In the rhythm of congregation life (and oh how I'm craving rhythm in these pandemic times!), Ash Wednesday and Lent follow on the heels of the Annual Meeting. Ash Wednesday falls this year on February 17. To mark the beginning of Lent we have developed several special opportunities for worship and spiritual growth.

This Wednesday, February 10 we are kicking off our exciting Lenten formation program--"A River Through The Desert": A Virtual Pilgrimage to the Holy Land. In conjunction with St. George's College in Jerusalem, St. Gregory's members are invited to a virtual pilgrimage that will feature two webinars with The Very Revd Canon Richard Sewell, Dean of St. George's College, video reflections from pilgrimage sites and additional reflection material for prayer and study. This group will meet on Wednesdays in place of Fr. Ben's Wisdom Circle classes and The Rector's Bible Study.

Our first session begins at 6 pm on this Wednesday with reflections on pilgrimage led by Fr. Andrew and Fr. Ben. The link for this gathering and the full pilgrimage schedule is included in What's Happening below. All members are invited. Please join us for this unique opportunity to experience a pilgrimage to the Holy Land from your own home.

On Ash Wednesday, we will have two outdoor in-person worship services on our East Terrace/Patio area at 7 am and 12 noon. Our evening in-person worship service will be at 7 pm in the church. Ashes to Go will take place at the South Beach Pavilion at the end of Palmetto Park Blvd from 8:30 am -- 9:30 am and at Mizner Park from 11:30 am --12:30 pm.

On the evening of the first Sunday of Lent, on February 21 at 6 pm we our conducting a Covid Memorial Service on the front terrace of the church to mark the one year anniversary of the pandemic and remember those who have died. This is a community wide event of sacred remembrance.

Please pray for our congregation as we respond with faithfulness, creativity and love to God's call to us in Christ Jesus.

Blessings and love,
Andrew+

FULFILLING GOD'S PURPOSE
MEALS WITH MEANING LAUNCHES A NEW MOBILE SHOWER AND LITTLE FREE PANTRY

It has been an exciting week for St. Gregory's and Meals with Meaning. On Tuesday, we - along with our valued partners - officially launched our new mobile shower and little free pantry for our guests. We are so very grateful to our partners who helped to make it all possible and are honored to now be offering these services. Below, Gena Vallee shares her thoughts.
It has been an exciting week for St. Gregory's and Meals with Meaning. On Tuesday, we - along with our valued partners - officially launched our new mobile shower and little free pantry for our guests. The launched was covered in the media and we are so very grateful to our partners who helped to make it all possible and we are honored to now be offering these services. Below, Gena Vallee shares her thoughts.

I would first say that connection with B'nai Torah and CareBag Inc is not just a partnership. It is a family coming together. Just as one might find distant relatives they never new they had, so are we in discovering our family that goes beyond our church walls. As we learn more about each other, we, Summer and the TLC program are more similar than different. We know what our purpose is and what we are truly created for: to love and be love. We together our fulfilling God's purpose for all. That is simply to care for one another. No asterisks, no conditions. Love as God loves us. Allowing us to be led in God's grace and goodness has kept Meals with Meaning moving in the direction of Love and compassion. That is always the right path.

B'nai Torah and St. Gregory's are continually gauging and assessing the needs of others in our community. This gives breath to new programs that are not just added to increase our list of accolades. These are life giving programs. In addition to the Mobile Showers, we have added the Little Free Pantry. This is just another way to give the much needed food to those that need it. Allowing others access to a pantry 24 hours a day is amazing! The community is literally feeding itself. "If you have, give. If you need, take". This is the motto of the Little Free Pantry.
This growing family that is know as partnerships is an example of what a community can and should look like when we are less concerned about which organization has their names in lights and more concerned about caring for those that are under-served.

MUSIC
February is Black History month and we will be celebrating through our music! This Sunday, we will have as our soloist at both the virtual service and the 10 am in-person service Mr. Sam Cucci who will sing the great spiritual "Ain'a that Good News!" Black History month has a special meaning for all of us this year as we as a nation come to grips with the horror and injustice of racism. We are reminded that Black Lives do matter and equality must be felt across all races, creeds, sexualities and genders for freedom to be fully realized for all. I've often said one of the many wonderful realities of having lived in New York was that there was so much diversity. Everyone was different, yet we were all New Yorkers. We had our various races, customs, languages, creeds, and sexual orientations, and we managed to live together in relative harmony because the city made us do so to survive. We realized that we all were in the same boat as far as subways, taxis, groceries, walking to and from—everyone relied on one another and supported one another in daily survival routines. It was beautiful. Tolerance was a necessity.

May we strive for tolerance, acceptance, and equality as we continue our journey through 2021.

I'll see you in church, and online!

THE GOSPEL OF THOMAS
WITH FATHER BEN
Wednesdays at 10AM
& Sundays at 9AM
on Zoom

The Gospel of Thomas was part of the Nag Hammadi find in the desert of Egypt in 1945 at the end of World War II which completely changed the landscape of Christianity. It is 114 sayings attributed to Jesus that are like Buddhist koans - these compact little hand grenades for the mind that force us into heart-centered awareness and intuitive knowing. Join us every Wednesday at 10 - 11AM or Sundays at 9AM where we'll take this mystical leap into what many historians believe is most likely the oldest Gospel of Jesus that we have. Fr. Ben recommends the three translations by LeloupBauman, or Pagles. Having a diversity of translations will only enrich our discussion.
