O Lord God, we bring before you the cries of a sorrowing world. In your mercy set us free from the chains that bind us, and defend us from everything that is evil, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

SYMPHONY OF THE AMERICAS
SUN JULY 14 / 3PM
Beginning its 28th season, the Symphony of the Americas has been thrilling audiences with world class performances of masterworks of the classical repertoire. To celebrate this milestone, Maestro James Brooks-Bruzzese has planned a show designed to Stimulate Your Senses. Under Maestro's leadership, The Symphony has taken an inventive approach each season combining classical music with other art forms on stage to engage and develop audiences - international guests artists include ballet soloists, the classical Mexican mariachi, the pulses of tango, the mesmerizing acrobats of Cirque dal la Symphonie, the drama and intensity of opera, toe-tapping Broadway, and the rhythms of Spanish zarzuela.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE
THE CAMP KANUGA EXPERIENCE
To most people that have not been to Kanuga, it is simply a nice place for the youth to go. Maybe even some of you reading this think that Kanuga is a place that our youths can grow and learn. For the youth that has gone to Kanuga it is so much more than that. It is to some life transforming.
In just a few sentences let me paint a picture for you. On our first morning here at Kanuga, one of our Middle School girls woke up early and was the first to arrive for morning Eucharist. She didn't come with friends by her side, she came because she truly wanted to be there. Though the middle school and high school programs are separated, they have their similarities. They each have their own Healing Services. Yes our youth have healing services designed just for them! Kanuga has done a beautiful job at connecting all of the guests both young and old.
Today, myself and the other adults will have her own special Eucharist service. One of the elements that makes this special is that the Eucharist bread has been handmade by the youth. I have had the privilege all week of seeing our youth reach out to others outside of St. Gregory's. I have seen the smiles turn into laughter. The sight of our beloved teens crying and embracing one another in love with compassion and care is not something I can describe. It is something that is felt.
Thank you to everyone that sponsored our youth. Thank you for all of the prayers. Please continue praying as we will arrive back home late Friday night. Most of all, thank you to all of those that support our youth by loving and encouraging them each and every time you see them.
As they say here at Kanuga, blessings to y'all!

HELLO! FROM NEW YORK CITY
|
This week, I'll be in New York City performing with Paul Winter for his annual Summer Solstice Celebration at The Cathedral of St. John the Divine. I wish I could take all of you with me! It's a magical experience as the concert begins in the totally dark cathedral at 4:30 AM with the music seeming to be shaped by the darkness which gradually gives way to the eastern light as it begins to stream through the clerestory windows above the High Altar.
Paul sends his greetings to St. Gregory's and still speaks very fondly of his concert here in January.
I'll return on Saturday and will be in church when Phil Denny, our newest choral section leader, will be the soloist at the 10 AM service. Phil will be singing a collection of older hymns such as It is Well With My Soul, and There is a Fountain. I know you'll join me in welcoming Phil to St. Gregory's!
I'll see you in church!
