Time is moving too quickly and a lot is happening at St. Mary's.
Most of us have heard the Gospel from St. Luke where Jesus cast out demons from a man and the demons ask to enter a herd of swine. Jesus grants them their wish and the herd runs into the lake and drowns. The last two verses are: "The man from whom the demons had gone begged that he might be with him; but Jesus sent him away, saying, "Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you." So he went away, proclaiming throughout the city how much Jesus had done for him."
Luke 8:38,39
Just like that man two thousand years ago, we are called to proclaim throughout the city how much Jesus has done for us. Pentecost, the birthday of the church, is June 9. The Holy Spirit enters the apostles and they begin to proclaim what Jesus had done for them. Christianity spreads from Jerusalem to the rest of the known world at that time in less than a generation. Unbelievable! How did it travel so quickly? - by people proclaiming what Jesus had done for them. And it was all done by word of mouth - no social media. What a better time than Pentecost for us to share with others how much God has done for us. The first step in building a "School of Disciples." and we can use the internet.
Remember to wear red on Pentecost!
