What's Happening at St. Mary's View as Webpage
June 2019 Supplement
Bill Haines, Editor
Time is moving too quickly and a lot is happening at St. Mary's.

Most of us have heard the Gospel from St. Luke where Jesus cast out demons from a man and the demons ask to enter a herd of swine. Jesus grants them their wish and the herd runs into the lake and drowns. The last two verses are: "The man from whom the demons had gone begged that he might be with him; but Jesus sent him away, saying, "Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you." So he went away, proclaiming throughout the city how much Jesus had done for him."                 Luke 8:38,39

Just like that man two thousand years ago, we are called to proclaim throughout the city how much Jesus has done for us. Pentecost, the birthday of the church, is June 9. The Holy Spirit enters the apostles and they begin to proclaim what Jesus had done for them. Christianity spreads from Jerusalem to the rest of the known world at that time in less than a generation. Unbelievable! How did it travel so quickly? - by people proclaiming what Jesus had done for them. And it was all done by word of mouth - no social media. What a better time than Pentecost for us to share with others how much God has done for us. The first step in building a "School of Disciples." and we can use the internet.
Remember to wear red on Pentecost!
Farewell Fr. Peter
Father Peter is now on vacation, but he will be with us on June 23 for both services. We will be able to thank him for his ministry to St. Mary's at a brunch at The Shore Club, formerly the Wildwood Golf and Country Club, following the 10 AM service. If you plan to come to the brunch, tickets are on sale on Sundays at both services and during the week through the church office.

St. Mary's won't miss a beat or a Eucharist. Father Gorman will be our "special" supply priest. In addition to officiating at two services, Fr. Gorman will continue to lead the Forum between the two services on Sunday and conTEXTS on Wednesday evenings, plus taking on the duties of a rector during the week. Father Gorman is an exemplary disciple of Christ!
St. Mary's Seniors June Lunch Program
If you procrastinated and didn't let Matt know you wanted to join us for "Bach's Lunch" at the Emlen Physick Estate, sorry! Matt had to return any unused tickets to the museum. Anyone wishing to attend who has not signed up will be on a space available basis. Please contact Matt Dowling.

St. Mary's Strawberry Festival
Don't miss out on our Strawberry Festival on Father's Day, June 16th from 6 to 8 pm. Volunteers and desserts for this fun-filled evening would be appreciated.
It's June already. Time to think about our Thursday on the Lawn concerts.

On a sad note, Bob Campanell recently died suddenly. Bob was a fixture at our Thursday concerts. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
