St. Paul’s, Faith UCC, and the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship have been working together to help resettle a refugee family through Church World Service. We have been training volunteers, finding housing, and setting up the home. Our involvement with the family is a commitment to help during the first 90 days with things such as housing, cultural adjustment, education, finances and employment, and finding medical care. A family has been connected with us and will arrive on Thursday June 23. They are a young couple expecting their first child in the near future and their 17-year-old nephew. We are excited to welcome this family to our community and help them to get started in their life here. Due to concerns for the safety and privacy of the family here as well as their relatives still abroad details will be kept at a general level, but updates on the family will be given.

The family comes with some financial assistance from Church World Service, but donations to help them get started would be most appreciated. Any funds that are donated to the family will go directly to an account for them and will be used for their needs. Any remaining funds will be released to them at the end of our service period. As we live into our vision in the State College District to Encourage, Equip, Empower, Everyone to Reach, Teach and Serve we need your input! As the District is formulating strategic plans for the future, we don't want to assume we know what our clergy and your churches need. We want to listen to you in order to plan how we can best serve you and help you in your mission. This is your opportunity to offer input and help strategically plan for the future as together we strive to effectively make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of lives and the world. Our listening session is scheduled for June 28 at 6:30 PM at Park Forest Village UMC.

Children from St. Paul's and the community are invited to a fun week of music and creativity, August 8-12, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, culminating with musical performance on August 12. Assisted by groovy music, together we'll solve the detective mystery, The Big Fish: Jonah's Whale of a Tale. The camp is open to children entering grades 1-7. Details and registration are online.
