2025 Graduates

We’d like to recognize this milestone in the life of our graduates! Please complete the Graduation 2025 Form in St. Paul’s Hub. Names and photos will be shared in at the 10:00 AM worship service on Sunday, June 8th, and in an upcoming issue of The Messenger. Please complete the form by Friday, May 23rd.


Scholarship Opportunity

The Helen McKain Hays Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a 2025 graduating senior in the State College Area School District. The scholarship celebrates the senior with the highest grade point average, whose parent is an active member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. To apply, submit a copy of your high school transcript to Deb Dormady, St. Paul's Office Manager, by Saturday, May 31st. The information will be used by the Church Council's scholarship committee to determine this year's recipient, who will be honored at the 10:00 AM worship service on Sunday, June 8th.

Summer Schedule Change

Beginning Sunday, June 1st, we will change our weekly worship schedule for the summer, moving to one service each week, with communion, at 10:00 AM. We feel that this will be a great way for us to be together in a different way during the summer months, and continue to meet people and make new relationships. We will resume our two-service schedule on Sunday, August 24th.

Retirement Celebration for Superintendent Brenda Leigey

Our superintendent, Rev. Brenda Leigey, will be retiring this summer. A celebration of her ministry will be held on Sunday, June 8th, at Mt. Nittany UMC, with worship starting at 3:00 PM and a reception following at 4:00 PM. All are invited to attend.

UMCOR “Flood Bucket” Collection

UMCOR continues to respond to disasters across the country. St. Paul's, can we help replenish their cleaning buckets? If you feel moved to fund a partial or full bucket (costs about $75 to fill), please make a donation through Wednesday, June 4th, online or in the marked bucket in the back of the church (designate "UMCOR Buckets" on your online donation or check to St. Paul's). All are invited to join the bucket assembly on Sunday, June 22nd, after worship. If you would like to help prepare for the assembly, please contact Joanna Carlson at joannacarlson@gmail.com.

United Women in Faith Spring Potluck Banquet

The UWF Spring Potluck Banquet will be held on Monday, June 2nd, in the Social Room. We will gather at 4:30 PM and eat at 5:00 PM. The program will feature Jill Swanson playing several piano pieces, and we will honor the Woman of the Year. We're planting flowers around the church on Pentecost Sunday, June 8th. Dress down and stick around to help set out plants, dig, plant, or water after you attend church (both services). Many hands make light work and happy hearts as we add beauty to our downtown community.

Spring Cleaning? Donate to the Free Yard Sale for PSU Students!

Before we know it, students will be arriving, and we'd love to help them make their new dorm or apartment feel more like home. For two years, we’ve hosted free yard sales and they’ve been smashing successes because of your generosity. Maybe you have items collecting dust that could benefit a student? If so, these are the donations we're looking for:


  • Hangers, storage bins/baskets, organizer bins, cleaning supplies, indoor garbage cans
  • Toaster, blender, small appliances, pots/pans, utensils, dishes, mugs, glasses, flatware, food storage containers, dish towels/clothes
  • Rugs, curtains, Christmas lights (small bulbs)
  • Shower curtains/rings, bath mats, towels, or hand towels
  • No clothing; only items in good, working condition
