Welcome The Rev. Evelyn Wheeler
The Rev. Evelyn Wheeler has a varied background. She initially trained as a geologist, moved into law, and eventually into the U.S. Foreign Service. She has lived in Beijing, Taipei, Ulaanbaatar, Moscow, Washington D.C., and Northern Virginia. She likes to say she ran a warehouse in China to begin, but fully a third of her diplomatic career was focused on bilateral and multilateral environmental policy and program support.
After her retirement, she went to seminary at Berkeley Divinity School at Yale. She moved to southern Indiana, and was rector of Christ Episcopal Church in Madison, along the Ohio River. Since her retirement, she has functioned as a supply priest, covering much of Connecticut.

ADULT CHRISTIAN FORMATION
Tour of the Trinity Church Campus
NOVEMBER 2, 2025
The building we know as Trinity Church is much more than the sanctuary where we worship. This Sunday, November 2, Mark MacGougan will lead a tour of our buildings and, weather permitting, our campus.
Even if you have been worshipping at Trinity for years, you might be surprised to learn something new about the spaces we have inherited from the generations that preceded us.
Please join us on Sunday. We’ll meet in the back of the church 10 minutes after the end of the service.

The Grounds Work last Saturday was well supported by the following people:
Marc Weist, Neill Derick, Karin Peterson, David Pontrelli, Valerie Pogue and
Peter Green. Thanks to everyone who gave up their Saturday morning to participate in this endeavor.
The parking lot was spruced up as well as the staff parking area and the front of the church. The grounds look so much better as a result of all the work that was accomplished !
Another work day is planned for Saturday, November 15 at 9:00 a.m.

SAVE THE DATE
Bible Study
NOVEMBER 16, 2025
Our Bible Study series, led by Rev. George Chien, continues on Sunday, November 16. The study will focus on the scripture lessons for the day, and will be an informal discussion.
These conversations provide an opportunity to delve a little more deeply into God’s word, and perhaps to consider the perspectives of others on what these passages mean to them.
Please plan to join us in the Library after the Service.

Book Group Meeting
The Yiddish Policemen's Union by Michael Chabon will be the featured novel of Trinity's next Book Group meeting. It's a gripping whodunit, a love story, and an exploration of the mysteries of exile and redemption - and is widely available at libraries and bookstores.
Jon Reik will host the meeting at his Farmington home on Friday, November 21st, from 7:00-8:30ish. Please let him know if you plan to attend, and he'll send you directions. (text or call Jon at 860-463-1267)
Everyone is invited to attend and will be most welcome!

COFFEE HOUR HOSTS NEEDED!!
In these times of transition, it seems more important than ever that we nourish the bonds we have with each other as members of Trinity Church. As Pastor Loeppke pointed out in his sermon last Sunday, we gain strength from each other in difficult times. Coffee hour following the Sunday Service provides time and space for relaxed conversation and fellowship.
Please consider signing up to host coffee hour in the coming weeks and months. If you feel uncomfortable taking on the task all by yourself, ask a friend or two to join you. Refreshments need not be elaborate – a few plates of cookies or fruit will do. There are copies of a “How-to Guide for Coffee Hour” on the tables next to the bulletins.
If you have questions, talk to Martha Freimuth or Linda MacGougan. They would be glad to share their experience of participating in this important ministry!

How Does That Sound?
We are testing potential new speakers for the sanctuary this Sunday, November 2nd.
Do these new speakers improve your listening experience in the sanctuary? Vinnie Pacileo, our Facilities Manager, would love to hear your feedback either in person or at vpacileo@trinityhartford.org.
Please note this is a temporary setup.
The final installation, if approved, would not have cables and equipment on the floor.

GODLY PLAY
Godly Play is a comprehensive approach to Christian Formation that consists of
eight lessons. Together the lessons form a spiral curriculum that enables children to move into adolescence with an inner working knowledge of the classical Christian language system intended to sustain them all of their lives.
We welcome children 3 years through late childhood into our Godly Play sacred space each Sunday from 9:45 a.m. to 10:40 a.m.
If you have any questions or concerns, I am available to meet with you in person, or via text at 860-503 3353.

PRAYERS IN THE CHAPEL
Every Sunday after our service we invite you to the chapel to pray for those guiding us through the search for a new rector. We are a small prayer team that has volunteered for this exercise. We also have found that this is a prayer time for our own needs and those of others. Please join us for this short time together, about 10-15 minutes. All are welcome!

A NOTICE FROM THE PRAYER TEAM
At Trinity Church we believe in the power of prayer.
- Your written prayer requests are welcome. There are prayer jars on tables at both entrances in which you are invited to place prayer requests. You may also call or email the church office to make a prayer request. During the week, written requests will be collected and prayed over privately. At your discretion, such requests can be placed in the Sunday service leaflet. Prayer requests will be published for four weeks, then deleted unless you choose to renew them by contacting the Parish Administrator.
- Intercessors are stationed in the south (lectern side) aisle of the Nave during communion each Sunday. Please approach them if you desire a moment of personal prayer. All personal prayers will remain confidential.

Bach Had 20 Children. And Still Had Time for Choir.
Johann Sebastian Bach had 20 children. Yes, you read that right. Twenty.
(Seven with his first wife Maria Barbara, thirteen with his second wife Anna Magdalena.) Not all of them survived, but several grew up to be composers, performers, and church musicians themselves. In the Bach household, music wasn’t just a job, it was the family language. The dinner table probably had more singing than chewing. And still, Bach showed up for choir.
Every Sunday. Every feast day. Every rehearsal that probably occasionally went a little long.
As Cantor of St. Thomas Church in Leipzig, he was responsible for the music at four churches not just composing it, but teaching it, rehearsing it, and conducting it. He trained the choirboys, wrote the music, and then directed it all from the organ bench, often with a toddler or two underfoot.
Why?
Because he believed music was for the glory of God, and for the building of community. He knew the power of many voices becoming one. Of imperfect people singing together anyway. His choirs weren’t filled with professionals. Many were students. Some were just regular folks. But together, they made something beautiful, something sacred.
Thursdays @ 7PM - Choir Room
All voices welcome.
No solos, no pressure, just joy.
