A message from

Trinity Book Group

Trinity's Book Group will meet on Friday, September 19, starting at 7 pm, and going no later than 9 pm, to discuss Bel Canto, by Ann Patchett. It's a spellbinding novel about love and opera, and the unifying ways people learn to communicate across cultural barriers in times of crisis. Note that this is not a Book CLUB, but a Book GROUP, as people are welcome to attend as their schedules allow and their interests incline; some people come regularly and others come once. Everyone is welcome!

The meeting will take place at the home of Mark and Linda MacGougan at 5 Squirrel Hill Lane in West Hartford. Please let them know if you plan to attend so that they have plenty of chairs and refreshments ready.

TRINITY GIFTS OF BACKPACKS

Thanks to your generosity, Trinity was able to provide 35 backpacks to our Adopted Social Worker for Covenant To Care on August 18. Here is a note from Catherine Haugh, the coordinator of this program:

Dear Penny and Trinity Episcopal Congregation,

Again I am writing to share my gratitude from Covenant to Care for Children, and the families that we serve. Imagine 35 children able to be excited about starting school with a new backpack and supplies. I believe this is their armor in a sense that allows them to feel love from the community and a sense of normalcy that is so important for these children. You lift myself and the social workers up every time you donate, which in turns allows us to bring that light to the families we serve.

Many Blessings,

Catherine

GODLY PLAY

Godly Play is a comprehensive approach to Christian Formation that consists of

eight lessons. Together the lessons form a spiral curriculum that enables children to move into adolescence with an inner working knowledge of the classical Christian language system intended to sustain them all of their lives.

We welcome children 3 years through late childhood into our Godly Play sacred space each Sunday from 9:45 a.m. to 10:40 a.m.

If you have any questions or concerns, I am available to meet with you in person, or via text at 860-503 3353.

PRAYERS IN THE CHAPEL

Every Sunday after our service we invite you to the chapel to pray for those guiding us through the search for a new rector. We are a small prayer team that has volunteered for this exercise. We also have found that this is a prayer time for our own needs and those of others. Please join us for this short time together, about 10-15 minutes. All are welcome!

A NOTICE FROM THE PRAYER TEAM

At Trinity Church we believe in the power of prayer.

  • Your written prayer requests are welcome. There are prayer jars on tables at both entrances in which you are invited to place prayer requests. You may also call or email the church office to make a prayer request. During the week, written requests will be collected and prayed over privately. At your discretion, such requests can be placed in the Sunday service leaflet. Prayer requests will be published for four weeks, then deleted unless you choose to renew them by contacting the Parish Administrator.
  • Intercessors are stationed in the south (lectern side) aisle of the Nave during communion each Sunday. Please approach them if you desire a moment of personal prayer. All personal prayers will remain confidential.
