11 October 2020
Lord, we pray that your grace may always precede and follow us, that we may continually be given to good works; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

A Brief Note From Rev. D.

This past Sunday we transitioned our worship from Morning Prayer to Holy Eucharist with Spiritual Communion. In my excitement to once again pray the prayers of the Liturgy of the Table, I skipped over the introduction to Spiritual Communion that I’d planned in order to give some explanation! In addition to that, we were trying a new camera setup and there were some technical glitches that led to issues with the video not coming through. I can imagine (and I’ve heard from some of you) that it was quite a disorienting experience.

In these times when our lives are filled with so much uncertainty and disorientation, it can be especially disruptive when our worship experiences are also disorienting. I ask for your understanding and patience when I miss the mark and contribute to confusion. As we continue to worship with Spiritual Communion I will ensure that I offer words of introduction.

Additionally, I will be hosting an Adult Forum after the 10 AM service this Sunday in order to offer a more full explanation of Spiritual Communion and to answer questions that you may have. If you cannot make it to the forum, I invite you to reach out to me if you have questions or concerns.
An Update from Trinity Academy

On Monday, October 5th, Trinity Academy welcomed 28 of its 40 students back to campus!

It has been a long 6 months since we were able to be together!

12 of our students and their families have decided to continue remote learning for the time being. We were more than happy to extend this option to them.

Due to social distancing guidelines, our classrooms have had to adapt to a lot of changes - but it looks like things are going to work out just fine!

We are also happy to announce that Carole Doar, RN has joined our staff as our in-house school nurse. Her nursing expertise will definitely come in handy this school year! Previously, we only had a Hartford Public School nurse assigned to us one day a week.

The United Way's Campaign season is upon us...
We hope you will consider Trinity Academy in your giving plans!

Since we are a small school, Trinity Academy's United Way number has to be added by each donor in the "Other" section on most employers' United Way pledge cards.
Trinity Academy's United Way Number: DS1111

Any questions? Please contact Trinity's Development office at 860-251-8337 or

Thank you!

(Re)connect

Although we may be tuning in to Sunday services on Zoom or YouTube, or even coming to the 8:00 service at church, it seems that all of us are feeling disconnected from our beloved Trinity Church and from each other.

Great news! The Stewardship committee has cooked up a plan to help each of us feel a little more connected, by reviving our old practice of writing notes to each other as part of this year’s Annual Appeal! Sound crazy? Maybe it is, but we think it will work. Stay tuned!

Outreach Team Zoom Meeting

Trinity Church Book Group

Trinity's Book Group will have its first-ever Zoom meeting on Friday, October 16th, 7:00 - 8:00 pm, and will feature the novel Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. (This discussion was originally planned for May.) The book has as its historical background Biafra's struggle to establish an independent republic in southeastern Nigeria during the late 1960s. Its characters come from various places on the social spectrum, from a village manservant to the daughter of wealthy bureaucrats.

All are welcome to come to Book Group, whether as a one-timer or regular attendee.

Send an email to macgougans@gmail.com if you'd like to attend, and you will be sent a link on the morning of October 16.
