Sunday, November 10th Adult Forum: Five Talents thanks you!

Five Talents is a global micro-enterprise charity working with local Anglican churches in 9 countries. Its mission is to work in the poorest countries to help the poorest women transform their lives through savings group programs.

Thanks to Trinity’s support for and sponsorship of grant requests to ECCT, Five Talents has raised $19,000 for a new program in Rwanda that helped 676 women headed families and about 1,000 in South Sudan, the world’s poorest country.

Please join us at the Forum on November 10 when Trinity’s Everett Post will thank you for your help and tell and show you the transformative results your help has achieved. Everett has worked with Five Talents for almost 25 years and is active on ECCT’s mission ministry network.

Trinity's 2024 Giving Tree Arrives 11/17

This Advent, we are continuing Trinity's tradition of a Giving Tree - a tree set up in the Sanctuary with tags that list wishes from Hartford children via the Adopt-A-Social Worker program of Covenant to Care.

Our tree will be up on Sunday, 11/17, with tags for each of the children. Parishioners who wish to participate may chose a tag on this or a subsequent Sunday, purchase the item and place the gift around the baptismal font by Sunday 12/8, when they will be blessed. We are committed to these children, and it is important that gifts be returned by this date so that they may be distributed.

With only 3 weeks to shop for and return the gifts, our elves will by busy! Please mark your calendars and plan to join in this festive event.

2024 GENERAL CONVENTION: An Update

The Episcopal Church in the USA held its triennial General Convention this summer in Louisville, Kentucky. One order of business was the election of a new Presiding Bishop. But the election was not the only item on the agenda. Two Trinity members, Marsha Adell and Elizabeth Rousseau, attended the convention as delegates.

Please join us on Sunday, November 17 following the 10 o’clock service to hear what happened at the convention. Marsha and Elizabeth will share their impressions of the events and the people who make things happen in The Episcopal Church.

Position Open at Trinity Episcopal

Trinity Episcopal Church is looking to fill an anticipated opening for a Part-time Parish Administrator. Spread the word if you know someone that might be interested in applying for the position. The job requirements and application materials can be found on the ECCT website: https://www.episcopalct.org/open-positions/parish-job-listings/

Grounds Work Days

The fall season is upon us and soon it will be time for the grounds to be prepared for winter. To accomplish this task the grounds team is planning to schedule three work days on Saturday October 26th, Saturday November 23 and Saturday December 14 starting at 9:00 am. There is plenty of work to be done tidying up the parking lot and various beds in the Memorial Garden, The Close and along Sigourney Street before the big oak trees start to drop their leaves towards the end of the year. Please consider lending a hand on one or more of these days so that as much work can be finished this year and the grounds are in good shape for winter. For more information, please contact Peter Green (860-922-1830). Thank you!

Trinity GHIAA NEWS

As we learned during the September 29 Adult Forum, Trinity will gather as a community to attend the upcoming GHIAA Public Issues Assembly at Weaver HS on November 21 at 6:30 pm.

There is a sign up sheet with more information in Goodwin Hall, including a summary of the 2024 issue campaign. All are welcome, including friends and family of all ages. It is a great chance to show our public leaders that we support the slate of issues that emerged from our house meetings. Let’s support this important social justice work together as a parish! Please speak to Cathy Rowe or Heather Kramer if you have any questions.

Major Public Assembly: 2025 Campaign Launch

Thursday, November 21, 6:30-8:30 pm

Weaver High School, 415 Granby St., Hartford

Remember the 2022 Power Summit? We will gather again with hundreds of leaders from across our region to ground ourselves in our shared values, to launch our new slate of issue campaigns, and to seek public commitment from elected officials and power brokers. This is a significant public action and a chance to demonstrate GHIAA’s power to win on the issues that matter in our lives. Turnout from every GHIAA institution will be essential! Stay tuned for updates from your organizer.

Trinity Book Group

Trinity's Book Group will meet next on Friday, Nov. 22nd, 7:00-8:30 pm, to discuss the book Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants, by Robin Wall Kimmerer. As a botanist, Kimmerer has been trained to ask questions of nature with the tools of science. As a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, she embraces the notion that plants and animals are our oldest teachers. - All are invited to attend this and any Book Group meetings, whether for one time or many. The Nov. 22nd meeting will be at the home of Linda and Mark MacGougan in West Hartford; please let them know if you plan to attend at macgougans@gmail.com. Hope to see you there!

Advent Quiet Day: Saturday, December 7, 2024

The Companions of the Holy Cross invite you to a Quiet Day at St. Albans Church in Simsbury, on December 7, from 10 to 2. Lunch is included. Our Quiet Day will be led by The Rev. John Van Siclen, Chaplain to the Hartford Chapter.

Our vocation statement is: Companions are a community of women, Christ’s disciples, called by God to a life of prayer, transformation, and reconciliation within ourselves, within our Companionship , within our faith communities, and within the whole of creation.
