The Poetry of Secrets by Cambria Gordon

Author Cambria Gordon, part-time resident of Madrid and great granddaughter of Sephardic Turkish Jews, has penned a historical fiction novel that tells the story of Isabel, a converso and crypto-Jew in 15th century Spain on the eve of the Inquisition. Timeless themes of oppression, feminism and hidden identities will resonate with readers today as we ask ourselves how far are we willing to go to truly be free?

Street parking is available on Hollytree Dr. We recommend that you park on the street and walk into the park.

A designated “drop-off only” area for passengers and picnic items will be available near the picnic pavilion. If you choose to drop-off before parking, a VOS volunteer will watch your belongings until you return. The upper lot will be available until 6:15 p.m. for those who need easier access. 

Please bring a chair and a flashlight.

Unvaccinated people need to remain masked.

Park rules state pets must be on-leash. No exceptions.

What is the role of miracles, horoscopes, lucky charms, superstitions and mystical phrases in Jewish tradition? Where do our sacred texts stand regarding magic spells, amulets and incantations for protection, healing and good fortune? Discover through texts and Jewish writings what is considered superstition, and what customs and practices nevertheless persisted through the ages.
