Thank You, Gettysvue, for Supporting WPRP!

KNOXVILLE VOLUNTEERS!

In just one afternoon, our WPRP Board Member, Jason Conklin, and an amazing team of 19 volunteers made a significant impact for one of our WPRP parents. Together, they pressure washed the house, cleaned gutters, removed three truckloads of scrap, chopped and stacked firewood, refreshed flower beds, and repaired a broken tractor motor.

We are especially grateful to Yard Force, who not only supplied the necessary machinery and manpower but also returned on Day 2 to tackle even more challenging tasks. They repaired shed damage, brush-hogged and baled the back fields, fixed the back gate, and burned the brush pile, ensuring everything was completed to perfection. Yard Force also went above and beyond by fixing the parent’s broken mower and continuing the work needed to finish the job.

A huge thank you to Jason, Yard Force, and all the volunteers for your time, talent, and dedication. Your hard work makes WPRP stronger and shows the power of community at its best.

"WPRP has been amazing. My family friend identified some practical ways to help my family that we continue to benefit from every day. She also served as a bridge to my friends and family who wanted to help me. I have always been reluctant to ask for help from anyone, but my family friend facilitated asking for help in ways I didn't realize I needed. Beyond that, she became a good friend. I'm so grateful she is in my life!" ~ KATIE

NorthStar Church Hosts Construction Event

Northstar Church hosted a meaningful workshop where kids spent time with both male and female mentors. They learned essential tool skills, worked together on hands-on projects, and explored their emotional and creative sides by designing concrete memory handprint stones. This event not only offered valuable time with male role models, but also showed children that girls can be builders too! And, just as importantly, it allowed our parents to see the love and support from the community, reminding them that people truly care!

We are so grateful for our Church Partners!!!

"WPRP has helped me to realize that I am not alone as a young widow with children and that there are lots of people who want to help care for widows. God has been present and working through so many in the WPRP, and I am ever thankful!"  ~ Dee Dee

Annual Horse Riding Event

One of our full-time volunteers, Sarah Brede, opens her horse farm each year to bring joy and comfort to our families. She prepares a welcoming space with crafts and snacks for the kids, then invites both adults and children to enjoy time with the horses. It’s a wonderful experience for our WPRP families—and volunteers, too!

Research and anecdotal evidence suggest that interactions with horses can provide a unique and effective path to emotional healing during times of loss. Events like these give grieving individuals a chance to connect with horses in a non-verbal, experiential way, helping facilitate emotional expression and healing. This is the third year we've hosted this event, and it continues to be a hit every time!

OUR VOLUNTEERS ARE THE BEST!

TODAY! October 10th

World Mental Health Day

This day offers us all a chance to pause and remember that caring for emotional well-being is just as important as physical health. It’s important to talk about mental health, prioritize looking after it, and remember how important it is to seek help if you are struggling.

WPRP's mission is to help alleviate everyday stressors so parents can spend more time with their children to focus on the family's mental health and healing.

Your generosity helps us provide monthly self-care stipends for parents in our program. These stipends give them the breathing room to prioritize their own mental health, whether that looks like attending counseling, joining a fitness class, or simply enjoying a moment of rest. Because of you, parents are reminded that their healing matters too.

This World Mental Health Day, we want to say thank you for being part of that healing journey. Your kindness and commitment help ensure that widowed parents never have to face the hardest days alone. Together, we’re creating space for strength, hope, and resilience to grow.

WE HAVE THE BEST DONORS!

""The self care funds that I have received have given me an amazing opportunity to have time to myself to be refreshed for my children! I appreciate everything that I have been able to do, thanks to the generosity of the donors!" ~ RACHEL
