Central Business District (Community Development)
On April 20, the Plan Commission will begin consideration of an update to the chapter in the City’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan that pertains to the Central Business District (CBD). A DRAFT of the updated chapter is available here .
Various opportunities have been offered to date to encourage members of the public, residents and business owners, to offer input, ideas and concerns about the CBD. Here is a high level summary of what we heard:
- Build on Strengths and Traditions
- Preserve & Protect Character
- Encourage Variety of Uses
- Recognize Opportunities
- Establish Design Parameters
- Do Not Over Build
- Invest in Infrastructure
- Add to the Uniqueness – Buildings & Outdoor Spaces
We encourage all of you to take a look at the draft document and visit the project website https://lookingforwardlakeforest.org We welcome your thoughts, City employees offer a unique perspective on the CBD, what works, what doesn’t work, what should be preserved, and where there are opportunities for enhancement. Please send your thoughts to CathyCz, czerniac@cityoflakeforest.com or x3504 or stop by.

- A reminder that all goods and services received prior to April 30 will need to be charged to FY23. Now is the time to start entering FY24 purchase orders. This will help reduce the number of PO’s included on a report provided to the Finance Committee Chairman each month.
