This Week We're Celebrating Fine Art
Art is one of the most powerful things that connects us as humans; the great equalizer. Art has the power to improve our quality of life. It can ease our stress by lowing cortisol in our brains and combat isolation by connecting us with our community. At the Emerson we work very hard to make art accessible to everyone.
The Emerson is home to 3 fine art galleries; the Lobby Gallery, the Jessie Wilber Gallery, and the Weaver Room Gallery. These galleries each feature a different emotion evoking exhibit and welcome new exhibits seasonally. The Emerson is free to the pubic and open daily for you to come and explore.
Whether you are a connoisseur or someone with an appreciation for the beauty in life, the Emerson is your home for fine art. You are welcome here!

The Hour between Dog & Wolf
by Martijn Caspar Swart
"As my paintings have developed over the years they have become increasingly both rough and sensitive. These are a recent collection of paintings throughout that development in search of a masterpiece. The greatest portraits capture the essence of character, the eyes like windows to the soul."

A Sense of Place | by Kathleen Rabel
“For many Springs, I returned to Penedo, an ancient village in Portugal, to work in my studio at Vivenda Santa Iria. There, I found angles of light, shadows and reflections in which I experienced a separate dimension of observation. Calçada-paved lanes, rough shadowed whitewashed walls, quiet people moving through light connect me to the sense of sanctuary that I seek in this work. The place and the spirit of the people who live there have clarified my vision of the human spirit that the modern world can obscure.”

Mythologies | by Martijn Caspar Swart
“The inspiration for these paintings are Mythologies which show us the most universal and deep-rooted aspects of human experience. It is how we remember who we are and what we are capable of. After all, the full breadth of humanity includes much greatness and much suffering, everything in our nature is sublime."
