Matthew Hamon is an award winning freelance portrait photographer based in Montana. His photography exists conceptually and aesthetically in the liminal spaces between photojournalism and staged editorial imagery. A sense of place informed by wandering the woods as a child inspires his enquiry.

Matthew's work has been featured in CNN, The New York Times, Outside Magazine, The Independent -UK, Lens Culture, LifeFramer, 1 Million Photographers, Edge of Humanity, Don't Take Pictures, Month of Photography, Los Angeles (MOPLA), and Smith Journal.

Shari Chandler

Barns, Bovine, and Botanicals | Lobby Gallery

Shari was taught how to paint at an early age by her grandparents in Oklahoma. She initially pursued art as a major at the University of Kansas, but eventually changed paths and was an archaeologist in Arizona and New Mexico for over a decade. Shari finally got back to painting after rekindling her love of art while illustrating her masters thesis in 2000.

Since then, she has been represented by galleries in Scottsdale, Santa Fe, and her hometown of Silver City, NM. She has had paintings in numerous shows (including the Sweet Pea Festival’s juried shows), but the highlight was having a piece in the 2002 Arts for the Parks Competition. This painting was one of eight featured in Southwest Art Magazine’s article about the show (February 2003 issue).

Jennifer Combe

Jennifer Combe is a mother, artist, and associate professor of art at The University of Montana. Before shifting to higher education, she taught K12 in Washington State public schools for fifteen years. Her artwork investigates gender, contemporary mothering, and children’s development.

Her visual work has been exhibited at The Missoula Art Museum, Holter Museum of Art, The Gift Shop exhibition space at The Henry Art Gallery in Seattle, The NAEA gallery in Virginia, and The Washington State Center for Performing Arts. Her work is featured in the book An Artist and a Mother, published by Demeter Press.

She has lectured for The National Art Education Association in New York, Chicago, San Diego, Dallas/Fort Worth and New Orleans. She lectured on mothering and art education in Florence, Italy for The Motherhood Initiative on Research and Community Involvement.

Gallatin Wildlife Association Presents: Elemental: Reimagine Wildfire 

This film takes viewers on a journey with the top experts in the nation to better understand fire. We follow the harrowing escape from Paradise as the town ignited from wind-driven embers and burned within a few hours of the fire’s start. We visit fire labs where researchers torch entire houses to learn why some homes burn and others survive. We learn from Native Americans as they employ fire to benefit nature and increase community safety as they have for thousands of years. We follow researchers who work to understand the effects of climate on forests and the crucial role that natural forests play in storing vast amounts of carbon. Along the way we listen to people who have survived the deadliest fires to underscore the importance of this quest.

There will be an expert Q & A on home safety directly following the film.
