Seasons of Celebration

AT THRIVE 55+ ACTIVE LIVING CENTER

This Groton community event incorporates Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Three Kings Day, and other holiday traditions. Festivities include a tree lighting, live music, food trucks, as visits with Santa and the Grinch!

‘Twas the Moon of Wintertime: A Concert of Early Christmas Music

THURS., DEC. 7, 2:30 PM

Join us for a concert that celebrates winter and the holiday season, featuring the early music ensemble Entwyned. This trio of talented musicians will play carols and seasonal pieces from the 13th through 18th centuries using Renaissance and Baroque instruments. Cocoa and cookies will be served. Space is limited; registration required.

Steeped in Secrecy: The Boston Tea Party, 250 Years Later (VIRTUAL)

On the 250th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, learn about the brewing political problems tea presented in its history as well as a background of the most famous partiers (and phonies). Presented by Claire Evans and Debra Dudek. Co-hosted with the Tewksbury (MA) Public Library.

America's Favorite Holiday Movie: A Look Inside It's a Wonderful Life (VIRTUAL)

This talk will examine the fascinating story of Frank Capra's It's a Wonderful Life and how it became the ultimate portrayal of holiday goodwill and cheer. Co-hosted with the Waterford Public Library.

PaperPie Pop-Up: DEC. 1-3

Kickstart your holiday shopping with a fun and educational purchase for the young reader in your life. PaperPie Learning offers a wide variety of books, learning resources, and games for kids of all ages. Items will be priced at $5.00 or less, and a portion of all sales will benefit the Library.

Junior Friends’ Holiday Sock Drive: DEC. 1-20

Please help the Junior Friends give warmth and comfort to families in need by donating a new pair of socks. All sizes needed, from babies to adults; long socks preferred.

Books, Bows, & Baking!

WED., DEC. 13, 9 AM-7 PM

Shop in the Circle of Friends' Book Sale Room; all items are "name your own price." The Friends will offer free gift wrapping of items you purchase here or bring from your own home. To add to the festive spirit, they will be baking cookies throughout the day. Stop by to decorate a cookie, enjoy a cup of cocoa, and take home our recipes.
