View the solar eclipse outside on the library grounds or watch NASA’s livestream indoors. The Thames Amateur Astronomical Society will have a solar telescope available.

Junior Friends' Bottle & Can Drive: April 14-27
Drop off clean, empty bottles and cans at the Library and the Junior Friends will bring the recyclables to redemption centers. Proceeds will help fund their Annual Bumpers & Books event.

Earth Day Expo: Plastic vs. Planet

This family-friendly event will feature exhibitors, crafters, and food vendors sharing resources and information on sustainable initiatives, green living, and more! Join us for a fun-filled day of caring for our planet. This event will be held rain or shine.

Library Clean Up Day

Celebrate Earth Day by helping us tidy up the grounds. Meet at the library entrance; bags and grabbers will be provided, but bring your own work gloves. In the event of inclement weather, this event will be cancelled.

Outdoor Columnist Steve Fagin: Best Day Hikes in CT & RI

Steve Fagin, whose award-winning “Great Outdoors” column appears in The Day newspaper, will speak about his new book, AMC’s Best Day Hikes in Connecticut & Rhode Island. Copies will be available for signing.

Passport to Connecticut Libraries
Over 100 public libraries are taking part in Passport to Connecticut Libraries during the month of April. Adults and children can pick up a passport at a participating library by showing a valid, in-state public library card. They will stamp it and give you a token gift to get you started.
Take your passport along as you visit other participating libraries. At each visit, you must show your library card to receive a stamp in your passport and a small gift.
Visit at least five participating libraries and return the stamped passport to a participating library by May 10 to be entered into a state-wide drawing for a chance to win a $200 Visa gift card for adults (18 and up) and a $100 Visa gift card for children (under 18).

Student Representative to the Groton Public Library Board
Do you want to have a say in your library? The Library Board is seeking applicants for a student representative! This appointment requires a student to be a resident of Groton, an active library patron, and enrolled at a Groton school as a sophomore or junior in good academic standing by July 1. Students will earn volunteer hours for their time and contributions.
Applications and a description of the position will be available at the Library’s community board and on the website. Completed applications should be returned to a staff member or emailed to jmiele@groton-ct.gov by April 30.
