SCCF's Nest Fest 2025🐢
Join the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) for their first-ever Nest Fest — a celebration of Sanibel and Captiva’s annual sea turtle and shorebird nesting season. With snowy plover nesting season underway, and least tern and sea turtle nesting beginning mid-April, they’re gathering to honor the return of nesting shorebirds and sea turtles to our shores.
Nest Fest is a FREE, family-friendly event that will include activities and trivia for kids and adults, a presentation on what SCCF and their dedicated volunteers do to protect coastal wildlife, and opportunities to support our work.

SanCap Resilience: Getting Energy Resilience Right☀️
Bob Moore, Chair of SanCap Resilience and Co-chair of the Sanibel Captiva Renewable Energy Working Group, will present on the intersection of energy resilience and sustainability. His talk will address a series of questions:
- Why focus on energy resilience?
- What's wrong with our current reliance on fossil fuels?
- Are there feasible renewable energy options and are they practical economically?
- What makes sense for me as a homeowner or business owner?
- Where do we go from here?

Learn to cook healthy meals and sample a dish from Certified Plant Based Fusion Cook, Joyce Thomas
Degreed in-Home Economics, Joyce taught home economics in public schools. Later she became a home economist for the Litton Corporation. Currently she has a certification from the Plant Based Fusion Cooking Academy and teaches plant-based cooking. In her classes, Joyce stresses simple and easy dishes while focusing on the health benefits of a plant-based lifestyle.

Shrinking Abundance of Water🌍
This is the last seminar of the season in this series!
Explore the wonders of the planet with Geologist and Scientist, Jack Thomas.
Having earned a PhD. In Geology, Jack has worked on energy and environmental projects all over the world. He has served as a college professor, research scientist, petrophysical explorer, trainer, and environmentalist. His publications led to lecturing in Southeast Asia and the Middle East for an international engineering society. Since 2006 he has been an invited lecturer on ocean cruises folding together his interest in the interaction between Earth history and human history.

Shellcrafters-The Originals🐚—Observe the original Sanibel Island Artists at work on Mondays from 10am-1pm.
Join in on the fun, browse and shop for your favorite locally hand crafted items. All sales benefit the operations of the non-profit historical Community House.
A shell crafting class starts at 10am, the class is free, just pay for supplies to create a beautiful shell flower. Approximate Shell Flower Costs: $3-$5/per flower. Your support is greatly appreciated!
