Get outdoors this summer!
Make a splash at the lake - like these campers fishing at Camp Timberlake circa 1957.

How about camping out under the stars like Rusty and his friends at Boy Scouts Camp in June of 1961?

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT!
Meet Lonita Cook!
If you attended JCAHC's Juneteenth celebration, you met Lonita Cook, our Friends of the Johnson County Museum's President!

Being involved with the Museum since 2018, Lonita is a "charismatic leader who is deeply invested in the mission of the Museum," according to our Curator of Engagement, Lindsey Arnold Seevers.
Lonita states serving with the Friends "helps me keep an eye on our local community. It helps me keep connected. It helps me gift the practice of culture and identity to my family, friends, and followers. It really is a community treasure."

Outside of volunteering with the Museum, Lonita is deeply entrenched in the arts and culture of Kansas City. You might even recognize her as the Film Critic at KCTV5!
