Be on the Board...

Now is the time to consider being on the Chamber Board of Directors.  The process to recruit board members will begin later this fall and we encourage chamber members to consider being a part of the organization's leadership.  Contact us here if you are interested and the nominating committee will follow up with you this fall.

CoSquare Puts Caswell on the Map

Despite many not quite grasping the concept of shared workspaces, the CoSquare facility in Yanceyville is contributing greatly to the economic development in the county. It is home to a variety of professionals that call Caswell County home and also work here for major corporations. The place is home to at least ten different companies several of which are on the Fortune 500 list. Others are independent contractors or solo-prenuers (entrepreneurs that run their own business and do not have any employees aside from themselves, for now). Read more here

Ribbon Cutting Leading up to the Hoedown

On last Tuesday, September 21, Piedmont Community College celebrated with the Caswell County community on ribbon cutting for Phase One of the Center for Educational and Agricultural Development, located in Pelham. This phase includes incubator farms for students in the College’s Agribusiness Technology program, as well as others interested in farming.

NEW CASWELL COUNTY BROCHURE

The new county brochure was hot off the press and ready for sharing at the Hoedown on September 24! In anticipation of the throngs of people projected to pass through Caswell in route to the new Caesar’s resort in Danville, the newly formed Tourism Development Authority (TDA) made the updated brochure their first project.

Directed to travelers passing through the county, Caesar’s resort guests, and visitors from neighboring counties, the brochure is an invitation to “Get Away for a Day!” in Caswell County. Featured are historical sites and museums in Milton and Yanceyville, Shangri la, Caswell Pines Golf Club, The Animal Park at the Conservator’s Center, the R. Wayne Bailley-Caswell Shooting Range, the lovely Veterans Memorial, Lee Fowlkes Gallery, the Yanceyville Art Museum Featuring Maud Gatewood, our lakes, paved trails, picnicking facilities, the Caswell Farmers Market, and shopping in Milton. Stop by the Chamber or the Piedmont Triad Visitor Center for your copy. Here is a portion of it below. 2023 The Year of the Trail

The cool temperatures in the morning, sunny days, and nice afternoons make this time of year the perfect hiking weather. In North Carolina, there are hundreds of trails for people to get out and explore, including a couple right here in Caswell.

On August 18th, the NC Legislature declared 2023 North Carolina Year of the Trail, highlighting an opportunity to showcase, promote, and celebrate our state’s extensive trail systems. This statewide campaign will reach all communities and potential visitors with the message of how and where to experience the trails that crisscross our beautiful state. “Trail use has increased more than 300% in some places in the last year. The pandemic has demonstrated how eager North Carolinians are for safe places to be outside in nature” stated the coalition.

In Caswell if you haven’t seen some of our trails, now is a wonderful time to get acquainted with them. The Senior Center Tails system includes several footpaths in Yanceyville. The Stream Walk is a gravel fitness trail that creates a loop around the senior center. The Flatland Trail is relatively flat in nature trail that provides opportunities for wildlife viewing and reflection. The Hillside Trail links to the Orchard-Lake Trail which provides a connection to Yoder’s Market.

In Milton, there are expanding opportunities to get out and feel the fresh air and enjoy some time in nature too. The Milton Heritage Greenway Trails program has just cleared Milton’s Old Crop Street behind Commercial Row. The trail is partnering with the Gunn Memorial Library in a storybook initiative that will be incorporated into the walk for the children.

Through the Piedmont Triad Regional Council, the Chamber and Piedmont Triad Visitor Center are connecting with resources to help expand opportunities in Caswell to make sure we can provide residents, as well as folks visiting our area, with the best possible nature experience while using the trials here. Stay tuned for updates as ‘The Year of the Trail’ event comes to Caswell in 2023
