CASWELL COUNTY CHAMBER of COMMERCE
Small Business Recognition Awards

The Third Annual Small Business Recognition Awards will be presented at the Chamber of Commerce Annual Member Meeting later this spring. We invite all chamber members in the community to participate in the recognition of our special businesses. Here are the award categories.

Advocate Award
The success of a small business is often dependent on the ecosystem that it is surrounded by. This designation honors an organization that strengthens the community’s small business and community environment.
Previous winner of this award was North Village Pharmacy.

Community Contributor Award
This recognition pays tribute to an organization, that although small, makes a big difference in the lives of others. Nonprofits and for-profits alike can participate in this.
The 2021 winner in the category was Compassion Health Care.

Culture Creator Award
Creating a company culture is not just for large companies. This small business is intentional by investing in the development and well being of its employees. Bojangles was the winner last year for this category.

Emerging Entrepreneur Award
The kudos will go to a young professional (under age 40) who is shaking up the small business space in our community.
The winner in 2021 in this category was Bucks & Bass.

We invite Caswell Chamber member organizations to visit our web site at CaswellChamber.org or click here and submit nominations for 2022.

This email newsletter the Chamber sends each month or so, has been the number one way we have grown our communications and relationships with you. Please call today if we can help you with your marketing.

in Caswell!

In honor of Black History Month, stop by and visit the Thomas Day House in Milton, NC. Day was one of Caswell's historic figures that not only made furniture, but was an accomplished entrepreneur, master craftsman, business and family man. In the 1850's his factory provided 11.9% of all furniture made in the state.

The Milton Renaissance Museum and Visitors Center has a wonderful collection of Milton history that includes Thomas Day. In addition the Richmond Miles Museum in downtown Yanceyville also has information on this famous Caswell County citizen.

For an in depth video discussion of Thomas Day's work being recognized by a panel at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington click on the underlined link here:
The Man, the Maker, The Mogel. It is a fascinating story that includes details on Milton, our county and Thomas Day's positive impact here.

The Tooth Fairy

It’s all about Caswell’ said Lori Wilson, also known as the Tooth Fairy in Disguise. It is always fun to run into people that are excited about Caswell County and shining a positive light on the community. And a bright light it is.

Maybe you have heard about or seen the Caswell County tooth fairy lady around from time to time

On several occasions and I have had the opportunity to see the Tooth Fairy in action. Once at a meet and greet, once at a pre-baseball game exhibit area and then at the Gunn Memorial Library where a large crowd of children and parents attentively listed to the presentation all about good dental health. Who would have thought that such a sometimes ‘not so fun’ subject was welcomed by the children with laughs and giggles?  Read More by Clicking Here as published in The Caswell Messenger.
Caring for Those in Need

As the baby boomers continue to age and need care in the final years, there is a greater demand for care for our elders. Thankfully not all need to be in a nursing home and many desire to remain at home but need some additional assistance during the day to help with day-to-day activities. According to RuralHealthInfo.org, approximately 30% of older adults receive caregiving for health or reasons such as household chores or transportation, and adult children were the largest group of caregivers. When there are no adult children or the adult children are not close by or have other responsibilities and are not able to assist, the need for a home care service is required.

Enter, Royalty Adult & Pediatric Home Care. Alicia Parker began the home care agency in 2013 in Rockingham County. The need for the services they offer continued to grow and they found many in Caswell County needed their help too. So in 2019, the decision was made to open a satellite office in Yanceyville so local people could be hired and have short commutes to and from work while also caring for those in need in the area.  Quentyn Pennix, the administrative assistant of the office, visited with the Chamber recently and shared how the new business has continued to grow here.
