CASINO IMPACT ON CASWELL FOLLOW UP
|
|
On Wednesday, May 18, Piedmont Community College hosted a free community conversation, called “Pacers’ Perspectives,” where they invited residents to join the event and discuss the potential impacts of the Caesars Virginia resort that is slated to open in Danville, VA in 2024.
Guest speakers at the event were Steven Gould, founder and principal of SoVa Legal and representative for Caesars, as well as Corrie Bobe, the Economic Developer for the city of Danville. Both speakers presented information about the Caesars Virginia project, including potential opportunities to partner with local business owners and organizations for potential economic growth.
The community anticipates that several major roadways in Caswell County will see increased traffic as travelers pass through to get to the resort which will include a casino, hotel, convention center, and restaurants within just a few miles of the border that separates Caswell County from Virginia. Gould mentioned in his presentation that there will be an increased need in surrounding areas for gas stations, restaurants, accommodations, housing, and more. Bobe indicated that her office would be interested in co-marketing business efforts with local businesses and organizations in Caswell.
This event was cosponsored by the Caswell County Chamber of Commerce and the Caswell Office of Economic Development. The Caswell County Chapter of the Health Collaborative has volunteered to help foster continued discussions about potential impacts of the resort to the Caswell community as it continues to be developed.

Bush League Blues...
...Who doesn’t like baseball, right? And baseball the way it was 50 years ago when I was playing was much more colorful than today’s millionaire’s game. The market for baseball books, autographs, and trading cards is huge. It was just a matter of writing to that segment, and I definitely had the experiences along with recognizable names of the players from the 1960’s. Although some of chapters were on obscure players that few ever knew or remembered, it doesn’t matter. What these players did on and off the field is what interests readers.
