The Department of Nuclear Engineering has been hosting nuclear fuel handlers and supervisors from Idaho National Laboratory's Materials and Fuels Complex for hands-on nuclear criticality safety workshops. Idaho State University is the only university in the US with an enriched uranium subcritical assembly and gives students a unique opportunity to experience and understand the approach-to-critical process.
The workshops are directed by the Nuclear Engineering Department Chair, Chad Pope, who has over 20 years of industry experience in nuclear criticality safety.

Idaho State University’s annual Professional Achievement Awards recognize some of the most influential alumni for their valuable and distinguished contributions to Idaho State, their profession and their community.

IMNH Offers Free Admission for National American Indian Heritage Month
In honor of National American Indian Heritage Month the Idaho Museum of Natural History will offer free museum admission to enrolled tribal members during the month of November.
In 1990, President George H. W. Bush approved a joint resolution designating November as “National American Indian Heritage Month.” Free museum admission will be given to tribal members who present a valid tribal identification card.

2024 NASA EPSCoR Rapid Response Research Proposals Sought
This opportunity is intended to provide limited funding (~$100K) to researchers for projects that last a year or less and are specifically targeted to NASA’s needs. The technical part of the proposal is limited to 2-3 pages per topic. Idaho NASA EPSCoR must submit any proposals on behalf of Idaho researchers, and only a limited amount of proposals will be accepted from Idaho.

Idaho State University Launches Campus Master Plan Initiative
Last spring, Idaho State University announced that work was beginning on a campus master plan that will directly impact our ability to meet the goals and objectives outlined in our 5-year strategic plan.
The Facilities Campus Master Plan will develop a framework for future campus development that will shape the future of our physical campuses including what spaces we need, how we use and develop our land, and how we present ourselves publicly with our overall campus look and feel.

Diversity Resource Center Seeking Student Speakers and Event Participants for MLK Jr. Day 2024
The Diversity Resource Center is planning the annual Martin Luther King, Jr., celebration for January 2024. They are seeking Idaho State University students who would like to be considered for the keynote address presenting on topics of mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing in honor of this King, Jr. quote: “Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health is the most shocking and inhuman. Public health is a powerful tool to level that playing field, to bend the arc of our country away from distrust and disparities and back towards equity and justice.”

2023 National Outdoor Book Award Winners Announced
A riveting 1937 river journey of two women botanists through the Grand Canyon. A vivid recounting of the disastrous 1913 Canadian Arctic Expedition. A captivating story of Arctic explorers and brawling newspaper tycoons, all too happy to distort facts to sell papers. These and more are among the winners of 2023 National Outdoor Books.
A total of 16 books were chosen as winners in this year's contest which is now in its 27th year. Sponsors of the program include the National Outdoor Book Awards Foundation, Idaho State University and the Association of Outdoor Recreation and Education.

ISU School of Performing Arts Presents: “Ken Ludwig’s The Three Musketeers”
Idaho State University’s School of Performing Arts will present its second show of the season: “Ken Ludwig’s The Three Musketeers” on Dec. 1, 2, 7, 8 and 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Beverly B. Bistline Theatre in the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center.

President's Holiday Open House
President Kevin Satterlee invites all faculty and staff to join him at an open house to celebrate the holiday season on Wednesday, November 29, from 3 - 5 p.m. in the ICCU Bengal Alumni Center.
Adjacent parking lots will not be ticketed during this time.
Bus transportation will be available from ISU - Idaho Falls:
- Bus will load at the Bennion Student Union and will depart Idaho Falls at 2 p.m.
- Return bus will depart Pocatello at 4:30 p.m.
A similar event will be held at ISU-Meridian on December 12 from 4-6 p.m.

Call for Art Submissions
Art submissions are welcome for the 10th annual Art á la Carte Silent Auction, hosted by the Idaho State University Department of Art. The event will be February 22 and artwork donations from students, alumni, and faculty of the department for the silent auction are welcome. Proceeds will support student scholarships and a visiting artist program.
Items do not need to be framed, but ready to hang or display. All types of media will be accepted.
