Professor Recognized for Volunteer Service by American Chemical Society

A professor at Idaho State University is being honored for his service to one of the world’s largest scientific organizations.

Recently, Josh Pak, professor of chemistry at ISU, was named a winner of an E. Ann Nalley Regional Award for Volunteer Service to the American Chemical Society (ACS). Awarded to Pak at the American Chemical Society’s Northwest Regional Meeting in Boise, it recognizes “individuals who have served the American Chemical Society, contributing significantly to the goals and objectives of the Society through their regional activities.”

NASA Administrator to Visit Idaho Falls, Students Sought for Meet-and-Greet

Jared Isaacman, NASA administrator, will be in Idaho Falls on Friday, August 7, and will host a meet-and-greet with students from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Students who are interested in attending must complete this interest form by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, August 2.

Selected attendees will receive further instructions by close of business on August 4.

Annual Fall Evacuation Drills Planned

To help the campus community respond to and recover from emergencies effectively, ISU Public Safety will conduct fire evacuation drills for buildings on the Pocatello and Idaho Falls campuses from Monday, August 31 through Thursday, September 10.

Employee ADA Workplace Accommodations

Effective immediately, the Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX is now responsible for coordinating all employee workplace disability accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

This change is intended to provide employees with a centralized process for requesting and managing workplace accommodations.

Faculty Drop-in Hours with Dean Widmann

Dean Widmann invites faculty to a drop-in hour on the third Thursday of each month, from 1 to 2 p.m., in Room 121 of the Physical Science Complex. Due to another commitment, August's will be held on Thursday, August 27.

This optional opportunity gives faculty a chance to chat with the Dean about projects, ask questions, share successes, and provide input regarding the future of the College.

Dean's Excellence Fund Accepting Requests from Students

The College of Science and Engineering Dean's Excellence Fund is intended to support students in their journey through ISU. The Dean's Office is particularly interested in providing financial assistance to students who might not be able to enroll in or complete the semester because of short-term financial hardships. Students seeking such support should be in good academic standing.

If you know of a student who is in need of short-term support, please have them complete this form.
