Research by ISU Professor, Students to Unravel Formation of Wyoming’s Green River Basin

A mystery millions of years in the making may be explained by a look at a few grains of sand.

The sands that hold the pieces to this puzzle being put together by Kurt Sundell, assistant professor of geology at Idaho State University, and his students are found in the southwest corner of Wyoming. Known today as the greater Green River Basin, this area was once under the waters of Lake Gosiute.

Congrats to Joe Shurtleff on being named the ISU Career Center’s CPI of the Month!

A civil engineering major, Joe holds a CPI internship at the Structural Laboratories, located in the Engineering Research Complex and Disaster Response Complex.

Thank you to the more than 2,100 kids of all ages who stopped by the Haunted Science Laboratory this year!

When the lab opened to the public, the Kiwanis Club of Pocatello raised over $1,000 for Kiwanis-supported charities.

Thank you to Bannock County, Norco, Inc., and Idaho STEM Ecosystem for the support. And a special thanks to the volunteers who dedicate their time and effort to the Haunted Science Lab.

If you would like to volunteer or have questions, contact Sarah Howard, STEM Foundation and Development Manager with the Idaho STEM Action Center, at sarah.howard@stem.idaho.gov.
