We are mourning the loss of Brian Gordon Williams, a well-loved Emeritus Professor of Mechanical Engineering, who passed away May 19 at the University of Utah hospital after battling complex health issues for 12 years.


Funeral services are Saturday, May 24, at noon, at the Sheppard Ward building, 775 Hawthorne Road, Chubbuck, Idaho. The viewing begins at 10:30 a.m.

Ten ISU Students Pass Nuclear Reactor Operator Exam to Become Licensed


Idaho State University students have earned a rare and nationally recognized credential: a U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Reactor Operator license.


This spring, 10 students—six from the College of Technology’s nuclear operations technology program and four from the College of Science and Engineering’s nuclear engineering program—successfully passed the NRC’s rigorous reactor operator (RO) exam.

Congrats, Logan McDougall!


His feature on Associate Professor Cori Jenkins’ efforts to land an NSF CAREER Award nabbed first place in the Institutional Writing category at the Northwest Science Writers Association's 2024 Best of the Northwest Awards. Earlier this month, the June 2024 edition of ISU STEM Connections earned Logan a 2nd place finish in the Newsletter category at the Idaho Press Club’s Best of 2024 Awards.

Dean's Excellence Fund Accepting Requests from Students


The College of Science and Engineering Dean's Excellence Fund is intended to support students in their journey through ISU. The Dean's Office is particularly interested in providing financial assistance to students who might not be able to enroll in or complete the semester because of short-term financial hardships. Students seeking such support should be in good academic standing.

Fighting Hunger Through Research and Action at Benny’s Pantry


"The food that I bought just didn’t last, and I didn’t have money to get more.” This quote from a student survey illustrates what many students at ISU face, and the driving force behind Rachel Nielsen’s recent research on food insecurity at Idaho State University.

Summer Group Fitness: Free Classes


Get energy this summer with Recreation and Wellness Drop-In Group Fitness. Classes are offered Monday through Thursday from noon to 12:45 p.m. at the Student Recreation Center. These noon workouts are free for students and gym members all summer long.


RecWell is extending “Employee Appreciation” through the summer to appreciate ISU's dedicated employees. Faculty and Staff with an FS Bengal ID may continue to attend these group fitness classes at no cost.

Legal Training: Record Retention


The Office of General Counsel would like to invite all employees to a session on Record Retention on Friday, May 30, from 11 to 11:45 a.m. via Zoom.
