Biology Alumna’s Art Featured at Idaho Museum of Natural History
Seeing her artwork adorn the walls of the Idaho Museum of Natural History, Idaho State University Alumna Ashelee Rasmussen describes it as a bit of a homecoming.
“This is where it’s meant to be,” says Rasmussen, “and there’s not a better place for it.”

Geosciences Student Named to Geological Society of America Rocky Mountain Section Board
An Idaho State University undergrad has been selected to serve as a representative to one of the largest professional organizations for geologists.
Recently, Tiago Heebner, a junior majoring in geology, was chosen to serve on the management board of the Geological Society of America Rocky Mountain Section as the Undergraduate Student Representative.

Nominations Open for Jean'ne M. Shreeve NSF EPSCoR Research Excellence Award
Idaho NSF EPSCoR is seeking nominations for the Jean'ne M. Shreeve NSF EPSCoR Research Excellence Award. Nominations of eligible faculty members can be made annually and are due by 5 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 28. The award may recognize a single significant contribution or an accumulation of significant contributions that have received national or international recognition.

Idaho Museum of Natural History to Host Screening of "On Grizzly Ground"
The Idaho Museum of Natural History is hosting "On Grizzly Ground," a new wildlife film from Kris Millgate, the Emmy-nominated journalist who documented disappearing salmon across the Northwest.
“Following grizzlies is risky, but warranted,” says Kris Millgate, outdoor journalist and owner of Tight Line Media. “Greater Yellowstone bears are expanding their presence in the West so the odds of us being in their way as they make their way are going up. I want to show you how we help and hinder their recovery while also celebrating nature at its wildest.”
The film screening will be Sept. 14 at Frazier Hall from 6 to 9 p.m. This event is free and family-friendly. After the film, Millgate will host a question and answer period, followed by a reception hosted by the Idaho Museum of Natural History.

CoSE and the Office for Research are looking for a Senior Accountant.
The Senior Accountant will provide accounting and financial support to the College of Science and Engineering and to the Office for Research, and assist the University Business Officer for these units in monitoring and controlling budget status for appropriated, local and grant funds. This position will analyze financial transaction data, research and resolve variances, prepare management reports, and will provide direct support as needed to account directors.

CoSE Fall Forum and Social Set for Sept. 28
Join us for CoSE’s Fall Forum on Thursday, September 28, at 3 p.m. in Lecture Center Room 10. The Lecture Center is Building #67, near the Gale Life Sciences Building and north of the Speech Pathology and Audiology Building.
A social hour for faculty and staff will be held at Goody's Deli, 905 S 5th Ave., after the meeting. Pizza and refreshments will be provided.

Students Needed for Bannock Development Corp. Focus Group
Bannock Development Corporation is looking for CoSE students to participate in a focus group that will ask questions relevant to their experiences as college students, their needs in the workforce, and for their livelihood.
This focus group is student-led, and all student responses will remain anonymous to protect student identities.
The group will meet Wednesday, September 13, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. via Google Meets.
Bannock Development Corporation is a nonprofit private/public corporation that focuses on economic development for the Portneuf Valley.

Virginia Barnett Appointed Interim Director for TRIO Student Support Services
The Student Affairs team is pleased to announce that Virginia Barnett has accepted the position of Interim Director for TRIO Student Support Services, effective Sept.5.
With a decade of experience in the College of Arts and Letters at Idaho State University, Barnett has consistently demonstrated her commitment to helping students achieve their academic and personal goals. Her background as both an Advising Coordinator and a University Studies Specialist has equipped her with a deep understanding of the unique challenges that students face as they navigate their higher education journeys.

Strategic Audit Report Survey
The Presidential Transition Committee has begun work on the Presidential Transition Report, an overview of Idaho State University that will be shared with the incoming president, once selected, to familiarize themselves with ISU.
To create the report, we need your help. An important component of the report will be incorporating diverse perspectives from our University community. We encourage you to take a few minutes before September 15 to share your unique perspective based on your experience as an ISU constituent through this survey. Completing the survey is an opportunity to be involved in the presidential transition process by sharing your thoughts, ideas and suggestions.

We want to make sure those stories are shared publicly. Here are a few ways you can provide a news tip to help get the word out:

Send an email to Logan McDougall (loganmcdougall@isu.edu) with a brief description of the news to be shared.
You are always welcome to create a draft story, submit it via the Story Submission Form, or send it to Logan. The Office of Marketing and Communications and Logan will coordinate to get the story finalized and distributed to the media outlets/platforms that best tell the story.
