What's Happening in CoSE

“This achievement would not have been possible without the mentorship, resources, and encouragement I’ve received from Idaho State. The College of Science and Engineering, and particularly the physics department’s generosity in partially funding this opportunity, provided me with the foundation to engage in meaningful research. I’m also indebted to the faculty and peers who offered guidance during the preparation process—their insights were invaluable.”

Congrats, Prem Shah!

At the Gulf Coast Undergraduate Research Symposium hosted by Rice University, he earned an Outstanding Presentation award in the Materials Science and NanoEngineering category. Last summer, Prem researched copper chalcogenides at the University of Dayton through the U.S. National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates program. Copper chalcogenides are a novel type of nanomaterial with tunable light absorption properties and possible applications in supercapacitors, solar cells, and medical devices.

In September, Prem, a double major in physics and computer science, won a first-place poster award at TECHCON 2024.

Division of Human Resources Required Annual Training: Respectful Workplace and Cybersecurity Training

It’s that time of year again, for employees to complete required annual trainings. As required by the State of Idaho Division of Human Resources and State of Idaho Information Technology Services, ISU faculty and staff are joining all other state employees in completing annual training for both Respectful Workplace, and Cybersecurity. Completion of these trainings is required for benefit-eligible faculty and staff to be eligible for FY26 change in employee compensation pay increases, should they be approved by the legislature.

Campus Master Plan Approved

Over the past year and a half, the Campus Operations and Facilities Services teams have undertaken a comprehensive Campus Master Plan project.

This planning effort followed a structured, iterative approach, allowing us to deepen our understanding of Idaho State University’s needs and opportunities while planning for the strategic development and improvement of our campus. We are deeply appreciative of the feedback from faculty, staff, students, and alumni through surveys, pop-up events, town-halls, and stakeholder meetings throughout the project. The campus-wide participation resulted in a collaborative, data-driven plan that will improve strategic decision-making for the future of Idaho State University.

Seeking Student Success Stories for Career Path Internship 15-Year Celebration

The Career Path Internship program will celebrate its 15th anniversary in the fall of 2025. We plan to highlight student success stories and showcase all of the ways the program has benefited students, the university, and multiple communities around the state. We are gathering CPI alumni stories to publicize this milestone to the university and our community and would appreciate your valuable insights.

We invite faculty and staff from all campuses to share the names of CPI students who made a significant contribution to ISU or in their degree or career, had a unique experience, or examples of how their internship was pivotal in meeting their academic or professional goals.
