Recently, Perryman Company funded the Perryman Company Civil Engineering Research Fund at Idaho State University, supporting research into one of the planet’s strongest materials - titanium.

With support from Perryman Company, ISU researchers have been investigating the use of titanium alloy bars in construction since 2017.

Congrats, Darcy Whitehead, on earning one of the Undergraduate Scholarships from the Intermountain Section of the American Water Works Association!

Darcy is a senior majoring in civil engineering, and the scholarships support "students in the field of water quality, supply, and treatment in the Intermountain West." Looking ahead, Darcy plans to continue working on municipal water/wastewater projects throughout Idaho, with the long-term goal of earning her Professional Engineer license. Outside of work, you'll find her skiing, kayaking, and rock climbing.

The Society for Behavioral Neuroendocrinology is hosting its third annual Online Research Symposium October 22 and 23.

The free virtual symposium has opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as postdocs to present their research. Anyone interested in the brain, behavior, or hormones is welcome to attend, regardless of membership.

2026 Responsible Conduct of Research Seminar Series

The Office for Research will offer the 2026 Responsible Conduct of Research Seminar Series for faculty, staff and students involved in research.

These one-hour, in-person seminars provide practical guidance on topics that matter throughout the research process, including research misconduct, conflicts of interest, human and animal research, data management, research security, collaborative research, peer review, and responsible authorship and publication. In-person RCR training is required for researchers supported by the National Institutes of Health but is open to anyone, including projects supported by agencies such as NSF and USDA. Students learning about research or working in research labs are also encouraged to attend.

These communities offer faculty an opportunity to connect with colleagues, explore timely topics in teaching and learning, and exchange ideas and strategies that can enrich their work with students.

Dean's Excellence Fund Accepting Requests from Students

The College of Science and Engineering Dean's Excellence Fund is intended to support students in their journey through ISU. The Dean's Office is particularly interested in providing financial assistance to students who might not be able to enroll in or complete the semester because of short-term financial hardships. Students seeking such support should be in good academic standing.

If you know of a student who is in need of short-term support, please have them complete this form.

August 28: Last day to add/drop early 8-week courses

September 4: Last day to register, add/drop, change section, or audit full semester courses

September 4: Last day to submit Idaho Residency Determination Worksheet with documentation to Office of the Registrar to declare Idaho residency

September 7: Labor Day holiday (no classes)

September 21: Last day to file an application for December 2026 graduation

September 25: Last day to WITHDRAW from early 8-week courses
