ISU Physics' Water Rocket Festival Scheduled for June 27 and 28

Pocatello’s Tydeman Park is set to be a launch pad.


Saturday and Sunday, June 27 and 28, from 10 a.m. to noon, Idaho State University’s Department of Physics will host their Water Rocket Festival at Tydeman Park, N. 8th Avenue and E. Young Street. Each day, the first 100 youth ages 16-years-old and younger will receive the materials needed to build a water rocket.

The research of Josh Grinath, associate professor in the biological sciences department, was recently featured in the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory's Science Stories series.


For well over 10 summers, Josh has been looking into how "pollution and predators shape communities of plants and animals" at RMBL.

Paul Allen, a Master Naturalist, taught kids about the Monarch Waystation at Edson Fichter.

The Portneuf Pollinator Partnership, composed of various community organizations, will celebrate pollinators during National Pollinator Week from June 22 through June 28.


The week will feature free public events, culminating with a Pollinator Day Celebration at Idaho Fish and Game’s Edson Fichter Nature Area on Saturday, June 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Faculty Invited to Take Biomedical Research Survey


The Office for Research invites faculty conducting biomedical/health research or interested in conducting such research to participate in a brief online survey to assess the biomedical research environment at ISU.


This project is led by Kristin Van De Griend and Michele Brumley. The objective of Biomedical Research Investing in Growth and ISU Talent (BRING-IT) is to develop an institution-wide, data-informed action plan that will guide improvements in biomedical research capacity at ISU.


This survey will take approximately 20 minutes or less.

Faculty Drop-in Hours with Dean Widmann


Dean Widmann invites faculty to a drop-in hour on the third Thursday of each month, from 1 to 2 p.m., in Room 121 of the Physical Science Complex. The next will be held on Thursday, July 16.


This optional opportunity gives faculty a chance to chat with the Dean about projects, ask questions, share successes, and provide input regarding the future of the College.

Dean's Excellence Fund Accepting Requests from Students


The College of Science and Engineering Dean's Excellence Fund is intended to support students in their journey through ISU. The Dean's Office is particularly interested in providing financial assistance to students who might not be able to enroll in or complete the semester because of short-term financial hardships. Students seeking such support should be in good academic standing.

ISU employees are invited to Accessibility Camp Pocatello, scheduled for August 4 to 6.


This conference will bolster awareness and understanding of Accessibility and Assistive Technology to help institutions define/refine their digital access strategy.

ISU faculty and staff can attend at no charge.

ISU Signs New Student Exchange Agreement with University in Mexico

Idaho State University students will soon have the opportunity to study in Mexico through a new exchange partnership with Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla.


Beginning in Spring 2027, undergraduate students from a variety of academic disciplines will be able to spend one or two semesters in Puebla, one of Mexico’s most vibrant cultural and educational centers.
