Volunteers Needed for Bengal STEM Day
We’re looking for volunteers to help with the College’s 2025 installment of Bengal STEM Day on Thursday, February 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
We need volunteers to help with setup prior to the event, take lunch tickets, man the information booth, and serve as roving helpers. Volunteers will receive a Bengal STEM Day shirt and lunch.

Cadre of CoSE Students to Represent ISU at State 3MT Competition
You're invited to cheer on Md Fazle Rabbi, Arifa Islam Champa, Dallin Stokes, and Callan Norby as they compete in the statewide Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition against students from Boise State University and the University of Idaho.
The event challenges graduate students to summarize their research in three minutes for a general audience and will be held on Tuesday, February 11, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Bennion Student Union Building in Idaho Falls.
If you're unable to attend in person, you can view the completion via Zoom (passcode: 149588).

Idaho National Laboratory Director, Dr. John Wagner and Senior INL Leaders on Campus February 3
Idaho National Laboratory Director Dr. John Wagner and other senior INL leaders will be on the ISU Pocatello campus on Monday, February 3.
Faculty and graduate students are invited to a 75-minute discussion with Dr. Wagner in the Rendevous Suites from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. about INL's research areas (Nuclear Energy, Integrated Energy, Cybersecurity), research capacity, internships, and university collaboration opportunities.
Meanwhile, undergraduate students are invited to attend a discussion focusing on INL's research areas, internships, and careers from 4 to 4:45 p.m., also in the Rendevous Suites.

Student Abstracts Sought for 2025 Research and Creative Works Symposium
This event is an opportunity for undergrad and graduate students alike of all disciplines and degree levels to present their in-progress or completed scholarly or creative works for a chance to win big bucks!
Abstracts can be submitted starting January 21 with a deadline of February 26.

The Idaho Museum of Natural History recently made updates to its "This is Idaho" exhibit, which includes more sharks.
“This is Idaho” explores the wild mosaic of mountains, rivers, and plains offering majestic beauty and scattered resources that shape all who live here. What makes Idaho's land unique? Answer: the Helicoprion shark fossils recovered from phosphoria mining.

Time is Running Out to Submit Your Student Employee of the Year Nominations
The Career Center invites faculty to nominate any student employees who go above and beyond in their job duties for the Student Employee of the Year award.
Nominations are currently open, and the deadline is January 31. To be eligible, the student employee must be:
- Employed at ISU as a Student Employee for at least one semester (CPI's are eligible)
- Employed an average of at least 10 hours per week during the current academic year
- Enrolled for at least 12 credit hours (undergraduate) or 9 credit hours (graduate)
- In good academic standing: undergraduate 2.5 GPA or graduate 3.0 GPA
- Attending Fall and Spring semesters NEXT academic year
Scholarships and prizes are awarded to the first through fourth-place winners. Winners will be notified in March and formally announced in April.

The College of Science and Engineering Dean's Excellence Fund is intended to support students in their journey through ISU. The Dean's Office is particularly interested in providing financial assistance to students who might not be able to enroll in or complete the semester because of short-term financial hardships. Students seeking such support should be in good academic standing.

ISU Awarded $4.5 Million Grant to Transform Mental Health in Schools
Through the EMPWRing grant, eligible full-time students majoring in school psychology at ISU will receive full tuition coverage for up to three years, including a comprehensive internship in their final year. In exchange, graduates will commit to serving high-need K-12 school districts in Idaho for three years post-graduation, ensuring their expertise directly benefits local communities.
