Efficient Exchange: Professor Looking to Develop Next-Gen Heat Exchangers

Heat exchangers may not be the first thing that springs to mind when it comes to efficiency, but an Idaho State University engineer is looking to create a new design of the humble part that could be a game-changer for everything from HVAC systems to advanced nuclear reactors.

Local Middle, High School Students Compete in Eastern Idaho Science Olympiad at ISU

Mind over muscle was on display at Idaho State University.

The ISU Department of Physics recently hosted the Eastern Idaho Science Olympiad in Pocatello. Dean's Excellence Fund Accepting Requests from Students

The College of Science and Engineering Dean's Excellence Fund is intended to support students in their journey through ISU. The Dean's Office is particularly interested in providing financial assistance to students who might not be able to enroll in or complete the semester because of short-term financial hardships. Students seeking such support should be in good academic standing.

If you know of a student who is in need of short-term support, please have them complete this form.

Digging for Clues: Law Enforcement and Students Gain Hands-On Forensic Training

Against the scenic backdrop of rolling hills and the Stephens Performing Arts Center, three burial sites are being excavated by area law enforcement participants ranging from coroners to forensics lab scientists. The graves were dug about a month ago, which means they were fresh and relatively easy to find. Thankfully, they do not contain actual human remains. Though the bones uncovered are simulated, the techniques and methods are very real.

ISU Anti-Virus Update - Sentinel One Coming This Summer

ISU has recently implemented Sentinel One as its anti-virus solution for all ISU-owned computers. This will replace our current anti-virus installation. SentinelOne offers next-generation protection by using artificial intelligence to detect and stop threats in real time. This summer, representatives from the IT Service Desk, as well as college system administrators will work with you to install Sentinel One on your ISU device, if they haven’t already done so.
