Volunteers Needed for Bengal STEM Day
We’re looking for volunteers to help with the College’s 2024 edition of Bengal STEM Day on Thursday, February 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
We need volunteers to help with setup prior to the event, take lunch tickets, man the information booth, and serve as roving helpers. Volunteers will receive a Bengal STEM Day shirt and lunch.

ISU Excellence in General Education Teaching Award Nominations Sought
This award recognizes and celebrates general education faculty who engage students with
innovative teaching practices, help non-majors understand and broadly apply disciplinary
methods of inquiry (ways of knowing), and implement strategies to increase access and
affordability to students.
Nominations will be vetted first by the CoSE Dean's Office, then by the ISU GERC committee, and overall recipients of the award in each General Education Objective will be recognized in Spring 2024. Winning nominees for Objectives #1-6 will be forwarded for the state GEM Innovative Educator award process, while winners from Objectives #7-9 will be recognized by ISU only.
Completed nomination forms can be sent to April Robinson at aprilrobinson@isu.edu.
Nominations are due to the Dean's Office by January 26.

Develop.idaho 2024 Slated for February 13
The Idaho Techonology Council's develop.idaho conference is slated for February 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at JUMP Boise. Focusing on AI, the event features three tracks:
- What to consider when implementing AI
- What is impacting Digital Literacy in Idaho
- How to realize business value through AI
The keynote speaker will be Hadi Partovi, CEO of code.org.
Organizers are also looking for speakers for the event. If you are interested in speaking at develop.idaho, more information can be found here.

Students Sought for Center for Advanced Energy Studies REU 2024 Program
This 10-week program enables 10 undergraduate students from Idaho’s 2-year and 4-year institutions, and universities from across the nation, to work alongside faculty from Boise State University, Idaho State University and the University of Idaho at the Center for Advanced Energy Studies headquarters located near the Idaho National Laboratory Research Campus in Idaho Falls. Students will work on projects related to advanced manufacturing in collaboration with university faculty and scientists from Idaho National Laboratory.
Applications for the 2024 REU Program opened on December 21.

Bengal Basic Needs Collaborative Invites Your Participation
The Bengal Basic Needs Collaborative would like to invite students, staff, faculty, and members of the community to join them for their first meeting on Tuesday, January 23, at 3 p.m.
This will be a great opportunity to discuss strategies for raising awareness, developing initiatives to help address food insecurity, and identify resources for basic needs support.

organizations from our campus community that represent the Bengal spirit and inspire us all.
Nominations are now open and will close on Friday, February 16. Winners will be honored at the Benny Awards event on Tuesday, March 26.

Benny's Pantry January Resource Drive
Throughout January, the Diversity Resource Center, the Wellness Center, and Americorps will be joining together to collect food and personal care items for Benny's Pantry. Look for their table in the lobby of the Pond Student Union Building on the following dates between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

We want to make sure those stories are shared publicly. Here are a few ways you can provide a news tip to help get the word out:
Use this Story Submission Form to send your news tip to the Office of Marketing and Communications.
Send an email to Logan McDougall (loganmcdougall@isu.edu) with a brief description of the news to be shared.
You are always welcome to create a draft story, submit it via the Story Submission Form, or send it to Logan. The Office of Marketing and Communications and Logan will coordinate to get the story finalized and distributed to the media outlets/platforms that best tell the story.
