CoSE Flu Shot Clinics Planned for October 23 and 31
College of Pharmacy students will administer flu shots to CoSE faculty and staff Monday, October 23, from 8 a.m. to noon in the Gale Life Sciences Building Room 229 and Tuesday, October 31, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Physical Science Complex Room 121.
Faculty and staff interested in receiving their flu shot must complete a registration form at least three hours prior to the clinic to receive their shot.
Flu shots are also available at the University Health Center. No appointment is necessary, and call (208) 282-2330 for more information.

Internal Small Grant Program Seeking Submissions
The Internal Small Grant Program (ISGP) aims to expand the capacity for research and creative activity at ISU. The Office for Research (OR) makes funding available for this program and relies on the ISU Research Council (RC) to make recommendations to the Vice President for Research in as fair and as transparent a way as possible and supports all areas, types, and disciplines of research and creative activity by all full-time ISU faculty. Funding for ISGP comes from Facilities and Administrative (F&A) Costs resulting from external grant and contract funding.
Proposals are due November 1.

FY2025 Idaho Global Entrepreneurial Mission (IGEM) Initiative Pre-Proposals Sought
Funding under this program will be awarded for competitive state university research in support of the goals of the IGEM initiative. These funds are to be used as seed funding for strengthening Idaho’s future by strategically investing in the development of expertise, products, and services which result in economic growth.
Pre-proposals are due October 30 by 6 p.m. Mountain Time. Pre-proposals selected to advance to the Full Proposal stage will be notified no later than January 10, 2024. Full Proposals will be due March 15, 2024, by 6 p.m. Mountain Time.

Free Screening of Oppenheimer Moved to December 5
Due to an unforeseen policy change with Universal Pictures film distribution, ISU will not have permission to screen Oppenheimer as planned. The screening has been rescheduled for December 5.

Counseling Services (Formerly Counseling and Testing Services) Adopts New Name
As part of a restructuring plan, the counseling center in Counseling and Testing Services has a new name—Counseling and Mental Health Center —and a new URL: isu.edu/cmhc. Both counseling and testnig services are currently still located in Gravely Hall, but Testing has moved under the management of Academic Affairs. The voices of 350 talented high school singers from across Idaho will preform at the 2023 ISU Choral Invitational Festival on Friday, Oct. 27, and Saturday, Oct. 28 at the Stephens Performing Arts Center.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Education Conference Set Nov. 3
The goal of this year’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Education Conference, which is being co-sponsored by the College of Education and ISU’s Diversity Resource Center, is to provide an opportunity for teachers at all levels to come together and share strategies to advance DEI efforts in K-12 schools and at the university level. In particular, this conference is an opportunity to discuss barriers to creating equity and empowering teachers to meet the needs of diverse students.

Gem State Air Quality Initiative - Federal Funding for Air Quality
Please join the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality and the University of Idaho McClure Center for the Gem State Air Quality Initiative Kickoff Meeting on Oct. 19, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
Idaho received federal funding to develop and implement a statewide plan for improving air quality. The goal of the federal funding is to help support job creation, lower energy costs for families, and deliver cleaner air in places where people live, work, play, and go to school, particularly in rural communities. By participating, Idaho is eligible for $4.6 billion in implementation funding to support existing and new community, government, industry, and non-governmental organization (NGO) projects.

"ChatGPT/AI: Friend or Foe?" Presentation by Danny Leeming
The College of Education cordially invites you to join us for a presentation by Danny Leeming, a K-12 and university educator from British Columbia, who will discuss current uses of ChatGPT and other AI tools in the classroom.
Danny will share details from personal experiences with AI, help to debunk myths surrounding AI, and provide the audience with strategies for using ChatGPT effectively in classrooms. Additionally, this presentation will discuss the shift in pedagogy and different approaches to working with AI tools as they become more abundant and powerful.

You are always welcome to create a draft story, submit it via the Story Submission Form, or send it to Logan. The Office of Marketing and Communications and Logan will coordinate to get the story finalized and distributed to the media outlets/platforms that best tell the story.
