An Idaho State University professor is being recognized for her commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice.
Recently, the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology (SICB) named Devaleena Pradhan, associate professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, one of the group’s winners of the 2024 Broadening Participation Service Award. The honor highlights the winners’ "outstanding commitment to and promotion of DEIJ in integrative and comparative biology.”

Annual Dean Feedback Survey Open
Each year, the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs completes an annual evaluation of Deans.
The feedback collected in this survey will provide information for consideration in these annual performance evaluations. This survey should take about ten minutes to complete. With the exception of the verbatim comments at the end of the survey that will be shared with the Deans, all information will remain confidential. Only aggregate data will be shared with the Dean being evaluated. This survey is completely anonymous AND will not track any identifying information.

ISU Center for Ecological Research and Education Issues Requests for Proposals
Idaho State University's Center for Ecological Research and Education is seeking a pair of proposals for this year's small grants program.
One focuses on research and synergistic activities, and the second focuses on supporting partnerships and our broader community.
The deadline for priority consideration is Monday, February 19.

Pacific Basin Nuclear Conference Seeks Abstracts, Papers
The Pacific Basin Nuclear Conference is looking for abstracts and papers to be featured in a presentation or a five-minute lightning talk.
The meeting will be held October 7 through 10 at the Blue Cross of Idaho Conference Center in Idaho Falls. The conference is sponsored by the Pacific Nuclear Council and American Nuclear Society.

Volunteers Needed for Bengal STEM Day
We’re looking for volunteers to help with the College’s 2024 edition of Bengal STEM Day on Thursday, February 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
We need volunteers to help with setup prior to the event, take lunch tickets, man the information booth, and serve as roving helpers. Volunteers will receive a Bengal STEM Day shirt and lunch.

Save The Date: The NEW Research Symposium Slated for March 13
The Graduate School is excited to announce the ISU Research and Creative Scholarship Symposium for all students in partnership with the Office for Research and the Kasiska Division of Health Sciences (KDHS).
Various ISU departments have hosted multiple research days over the years, including KDHS Research Day, Undergraduate Research Day, and the Graduate Research Symposium. The symposium will be a single, expansive event covering all undergraduate and graduate academic work.

Students Sought for Center for Advanced Energy Studies REU 2024 Program
This 10-week program enables 10 undergraduate students from Idaho’s 2-year and 4-year institutions, and universities from across the nation, to work alongside faculty from Boise State University, Idaho State University and the University of Idaho at the Center for Advanced Energy Studies headquarters located near the Idaho National Laboratory Research Campus in Idaho Falls. Students will work on projects related to advanced manufacturing in collaboration with university faculty and scientists from Idaho National Laboratory.
Applications for the 2024 REU Program opened on December 21.

44th Annual Simplot Games February 15 to 17 The 44th annual Simplot Games will be held February 15-17, 2024, at the ICCU Dome. The J.R. Simplot Company-sponsored event has become one of the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field events since it was first held in 1979.
Over 2,000 athletes from 19 different states, Canada, and Australia will travel to Pocatello to shine under the bright lights. Competitors also get the chance to mingle with Olympic legends like Andre Phillips, Willie Banks, Stacy Dragila, and more.

The workshop will be held Wednesday, February 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following locations.

Idaho State University to Honor Yost Sisters at National Girls and Women in Sports Day Three Pocatello sisters will be honored at this year’s National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration during the Idaho State University Women’s Basketball game against Northern Arizona on Saturday, February 3.
The 2024 Trailblazer Award will be presented and dedicated to the Yost sisters Faye, Naida, and Ruth. This award, given annually, recognizes a woman or women with affiliation to ISU who have made a significant impact in women’s sports.

You are always welcome to create a draft story, submit it via the Story Submission Form, or send it to Logan. The Office of Marketing and Communications and Logan will coordinate to get the story finalized and distributed to the media outlets/platforms that best tell the story.
