CoSE Fall Forum and Social Set for Sept. 28

A social hour for faculty and staff will be held at Goody's Deli, 905 S 5th Ave., after the meeting, pizza and refreshments will be provided.

A computer science student interning with the Idaho Environmental Coalition, he developed human-interface controls for the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Environmental Management’s Calcine Retrieval Project. The project is described as “one of the most high-profile missions of EM and cleanup contractor Idaho Environmental Coalition at the Idaho National Laboratory site.”

Students Needed for Bannock Development Corp. Focus Group


Bannock Development Corporation is looking for CoSE students to participate in a focus group that will ask questions relevant to their experiences as college students and their needs in the workforce and for their livelihood.


This focus group is student-led, and all student responses will remain anonymous to protect student identities.


The group will meet Wednesday, September 13, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. via Google Meets.


Bannock Development Corporation is a nonprofit private/public corporation that focuses on economic development for the Portneuf Valley.

Presenters, Volunteers Needed for Hispanic Youth Leadership Summit


Organizers of the Hispanic Youth Leadership Summit are looking for presenters to host one or more STEM workshops at this year’s event, which will be held on October 4 in Pocatello. The deadline to submit an abstract for a workshop is August 25.


Additionally, more than 150 volunteers are needed for various roles on the event day, including greeters, guides, and moderators. You only need to volunteer for part of the event to participate.

Spots Still Available on CoSE Camping Trip Aug. 25 - 27


You are invited to join us for a camping trip at Grand Teton National Park from Friday, August 25 to Sunday, August 27. The weekend will be a great opportunity to relax and enjoy the outdoors with your colleagues and families.


The trip is open to all CoSE faculty and staff, as well as their families. We will be staying at Colter Bay Group Camping Sites 4 and 5, which can accommodate up to 70 people and 23 cars. You will be responsible for providing your own food and other camping gear.


Please RSVP by August 1 via the Google Form. Space is limited, so RSVP early. Please check out Grand Teton National Park website for more information.

Volunteers Needed: Indigenous Peoples Day


On October 9, the Office of Equity and Inclusion and Native American Student Services will host the fifth annual Indigenous Peoples Day event. 


This event, focusing on Indigenous health and wellbeing through culture, community, and connection, will be a day-long teach-in for community, students, faculty, staff, and administration. Volunteers are needed in various roles, including greeters, guides, and moderators. You can volunteer for the day or just for an hour or two. 

Get Your Back to School Photos Sept. 11


The start of a new semester is the perfect time to update your headshot. Faculty and staff headshots will be taken free of charge, with no appointment necessary, Sept. 11 from 3 to 4:30 p.m., in the ISU Photo Studio, on the first floor of the Administration Building. 


Headshots will also be available from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on the first Monday of each month beginning in October. 

EPAF Training Available


Human Resources will be offering EPAF training this fall. These Zoom only trainings are offered monthly throughout the Fall semester and they are led by HR's EPAF experts. Please register using this Google form. You will receive a Google calendar invite and Zoom link one week before the class you register for.

Diversity Center Welcomes All to Fall Events


The Diversity Resource Center will kick off the fall semester with a Sept. 7 Cultural Cook-Off Competition.


Brown Bags or lunchtime conversation hours will also be returning this semester. Bring your lunch and enjoy conversations with guests such as Andrea Schmutz, who will be sharing about her work with refugees, and author Melissa Michelson, discussing her book LGBTQ Life in America. Diversity Week, October 30 through November 3, will feature guest speakers, including Idaho Senator Cherie Buckner-Webb and keynote presenter, TEDx speaker Liz Kleinrock. 


FY24 Hiring Pause Resources


University leadership recently announced a FY2024 hiring pause, as part of the ongoing Budget Optimization Initiative. 


In an effort to support the campus in implementing this hiring pause, the Human Resources team has worked collaboratively with the Finance division, UBOs, and VP Offices to coordinate and implement workflows to facilitate the Admin Council review process for all requested actions.

Presidential Transition Committee Formed


To prepare Idaho State University to welcome a new leader and to support the incoming president in familiarizing themselves with ISU, the University has formed an internal Presidential Transition Committee. The Presidential Transition Committee will be working with campus and community constituents to gather relevant data to create resources for the next president.

Use this Story Submission Form to send your news tip to the Office of Marketing and Communications.


Send an email to Logan McDougall ([email protected]) with a brief description of the news to be shared.


You are always welcome to create a draft story, submit it via the Story Submission Form, or send it to Logan. The Office of Marketing and Communications and Logan will coordinate to get the story finalized and distributed to the media outlets/platforms that best tell the story.
