Students Honored with 2024 Outstanding Student Achievement Awards

The 2024 Outstanding Student Achievement Awards, sponsored by the ISU Alumni Association, recognizes exceptional students who have not only demonstrated academic excellence but have also shown a profound dedication to their respective colleges, communities, and peers.


Taking home awards from CoSE are Alyssa Farnes in the Natural Sciences category and Andrew J Anderson in the Physical, Computational, and Engineering Sciences category.

ISU Excellence in General Education Teaching Award Nominations Sought


This award recognizes and celebrates general education faculty who engage students with

innovative teaching practices, help non-majors understand and broadly apply disciplinary

methods of inquiry (ways of knowing), and implement strategies to increase access and

affordability to students.


Nominations will be vetted first by the CoSE Dean's Office, then by the ISU GERC committee, and overall recipients of the award in each General Education Objective will be recognized in Spring 2024. Winning nominees for Objectives #1-6 will be forwarded for the state GEM Innovative Educator award process, while winners from Objectives #7-9 will be recognized by ISU only.


Completed nomination forms can be sent to April Robinson at [email protected].


Nominations are due to the Dean's Office by January 26.

Winter Holiday Timesheet Instructions


Timesheet submission and approvals are due by Tuesday, January 9, for dates worked December 24, 2023, through January 6, 2024. This timesheet is for payday on January 19, 2024.


Time entry procedures vary based on an employee's classification.

Develop.idaho 2024 Slated for February 13


The Idaho Techonology Council's develop.idaho conference is slated for February 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at JUMP Boise. Focusing on AI, the event features three tracks:


  • What to consider when implementing AI
  • What is impacting Digital Literacy in Idaho
  • How to realize business value through AI


The keynote speaker will be Hadi Partovi, CEO of code.org.


Organizers are also looking for speakers for the event. If you are interested in speaking at develop.idaho, more information can be found here.

Distinguished Faculty Award Nominations Deadline Approaching


Nominations are requested for the Distinguished Faculty Awards for Idaho State University faculty members.


Those recognized will be honored during a reception in April and during the 2024 Commencement exercises. Nominations for the Distinguished Teacher, Service, and Researcher are due by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17

Students Sought for Center for Advanced Energy Studies REU 2024 Program


This 10-week program enables 10 undergraduate students from Idaho’s 2-year and 4-year institutions, and universities from across the nation, to work alongside faculty from Boise State University, Idaho State University and the University of Idaho at the Center for Advanced Energy Studies headquarters located near the Idaho National Laboratory Research Campus in Idaho Falls. Students will work on projects related to advanced manufacturing in collaboration with university faculty and scientists from Idaho National Laboratory. 


Applications for the 2024 REU Program opened on December 21.

Volunteers Needed for ISU Track Meets


Idaho State University hosts both indoor and outdoor track and field meets during the spring semester. These events take a number of people to put on and run smoothly.


Currently, we are in need of volunteers and officials who are willing to help at our home events. There are assignments for all levels of volunteers, from beginners all the way up to certified officials. Some assignments can be two hours long and others can go all day. We also have morning, mid-day and evening assignments.

Chris Guthrie Set to Retire from College of Technology


Chris Guthrie, director of STEM and Industry Relations at Idaho State University's College of Technology, is set to retire. In her role, Guthrie has been a key figure in strengthening the College's engagement with industry and education. She has developed meaningful partnerships across various sectors, contributing significantly to connecting them with College of Technology programs and students.


To celebrate her contributions, a retirement event is scheduled for January 10 from 3 - 5 pm at the Eames Complex, Room 131. All university faculty and staff are invited to join in commemorating her impactful career.

Two Faculty Honored by Idaho Rural Health Association


In an acknowledgment of exceptional dedication and service to rural communities in Idaho, the Idaho Rural Health Association awarded Helen Cathleen Tarp and Holly Kartchner the esteemed Rural Health Heroes Social Justice and Health Equity award.


The recognition was conferred during the Idaho Rural Health Association's Annual Meeting and Awards Reception in November.

You are always welcome to create a draft story, submit it via the Story Submission Form, or send it to Logan. The Office of Marketing and Communications and Logan will coordinate to get the story finalized and distributed to the media outlets/platforms that best tell the story.
